Let's face it, Will Arnett as Batman in The Lego Movie was totally awesome! Easily one of the film's highlights, he seemed to steal every scene he was in. In fact, the character was so popular that Warner Bros. have decided to give the character his own big screen spin-off!

And, the movie is being fast-tracked by the studio!

Adam McKay, the animation supervisor for The Lego Movie, will direct the film, which is being written by author-screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith.

Warner Bros. is said to be eyeing a 2017 release for the spinoff, perhaps even on the original release date for the Lego Movie sequel, which has been pushed back to some time after 2017.

Will Arnett (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), who took Christian Bale's gravely voice to an extreme, will reprise his role as Batman, while Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the custodians of the Lego screen brand, are producing.

Lego Batman already heads a very popular franchise. There have been at least three video games as well as a straight-to-video Lego Batman: The Movie — DC Super Heroes Unite, where Troy Baker (Batman: Assault on Arkham) provided the voice for the Dark Knight.

Warner Bros. has no comment at this time.

This is an awesome idea, plain and simple! Batman was just so arrogant, dark and sarcastic in The Lego Movie. So why not give him his own spin-off? It's sure to make for a great time at the movies.
