Congratulations, Cassandra Clare fans - the Mortal Instruments series is hitting the small screen as a TV drama.

After Mortal Instruments: City of Bones made a lot of fans happy but didn't grab quite the Box Office smash Constantin Film were expecting, they're taking this interesting new direction.

Production is thought to begin in 2015, THR reports. Head of Constantin film Martin Moszkowicz said:

It actually makes sense to do (the novels) as a TV series. There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the Mortal Instruments film.
In the series we'll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth.

Constantin are looking closely at TV adaptations for other franchises, including a small screen rework of Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and the beloved Resident Evil series.

Further Mortal Instruments movies may still be in the works, but Constantin look to have shifted their focus onto the TV direction right now.

Do you think that Mortal Instruments will work as a TV show?
