I grew up loving superheroes. I watched all the cartoons growing up, read the comics, and saw every movie more than once. I was only 7 when the first Daredevil movie came out and I thought it was cool. Now that I'm older, I realize it was the complete opposite. That being said, to every comic book fan there are some characters that people don't get. Such as Punisher, Flash, Captain America, etc. To me, I never really got into Daredevil. I never disliked him, but I was never really interested in him. He is a cool hero but to me he was nothing special.
When news broke out that the rights to Daredevil have been given back to Marvel Studios I was happy. I was curious to see how they could finally make this character cool for ME, (Sorry, if it sounds selfish) and make a good movie. I'll watch any superhero movie/TV show; so when we received news that Marvel was teaming up with Netflix to create a Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Defenders TV series. They caught my attention.
When production began for the Daredevil series, I decided to do my homework and give The Man Without Fear a try. I always knew he had great comic runs and amazing story arcs, but like I said before he never really interested me. I know all about Frank Miller's run and I plan on reading it, but as a comic book collector, I plan on collecting it, issue by issue.
I started reading his current comic at the time which was Mark Waid's run. I started on issue 23 with the Marvel NOW comics at the time and they were good, but nothing that really satisfied me. Waid is a great writer, but his Daredevil wasn't enough for me. Then I read Daredevil: End of Days and that's when things got interesting. Great, gritty storytelling. The I read Daredevil: Shadowland and immediately I was hooked on that story. All of them were great stories but what got me into Daredevil was Frank Miller's and John Romita Jr.'s Daredevil: Man Without Fear Limited Series. I finally got [Daredevil](movie:47230)! And to see all hear all these news about the casting and the characters I simply can't wait for the show to come out.
The Daredevil Mythos are truly electrifying and from panel to panel you're going crazy. From the looks of things so far, Daredevil is looking amazing. Watch out Arrow, you have some real competition.
First off, Charlie Cox is an amazing actor, I thought he was great in Boardwalk Empire and I am glad to see this actor play him. The recently released pics of him as Matt Murdock/Daredevil are truly incredible.
From the sunglasses to the bruises on his face, Charlie Cox is our Matt Murdock.
And this costume is perfect for the first couple of episodes, most likely we'll see the classic red suit soon. Inspired by Frank Miller's and John Romita Jr.'s run. I know who I'm going to be for Halloween now.
But what got me the most excited was the poster as seen below:
It just looks so bad ass. It has that classic Noir feel and it is heavily influenced by Frank Miller. I simply cannot wait.
One thing I do hope they can show in the series is crossover with other members of the Defenders like Luke Cage...
What I believe is going to make this show great, is the cast. I already spoke about Charlie Cox, let move to Private Pyle (Full Metal Jacket Reference)
Vincent D'Onfario as Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin. Casting at it's finest. From what we've been hearing, Marvel has given us a villain where we can feel a deep connection with. One who's questionable sense of morality makes him "bad." What's so great about Netflix is that they aren't afraid to get bloody and violent. We are going to see things we haven't seen in a Marvel movie yet.The writing from what everyone is saying is phenomenal and I can't wait to see this come out already.
There is a plethora of amazing actors playing great characters. To name them all would take a while but to name a few:
Scott Glenn will play Stick, Matt Murdock's mentor, who taught him how to fight.
Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. Matt Murdock's love interest.
Bob Gunton will play Leland Owlsley or better know as The Owl. A crime boss who is an interesting villain to be put on screen. Great actor also.
The only thing missing is Bullseye. We need Bullseye. I want Bullseye. He is Daredevil's equal. WE NEED BULLSEYE!
That's all I got say about the new Daredevil. This show is going to be great, I just know it. Can't wait until it comes out in May.
