Blockbuster tentpole movies releasing a banners is nothing new, but when they're concerning Peter Jackson's upcoming take on Tolkien for his final installment in the Hobbit trilogy, which brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves, it's pretty hard not to get excited...

So, here's a couple of new banners for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, showing Gandalf (Sir Ian McKellen) and Galadriel (Cate Blanchett) as well as Thandruil (Lee Pace).

While there may be the odd gripe about Jackson's decision to film The Hobbit as a trilogy - when the book itself is hardly an epic - there's something satisfying in the knowledge that the director's return to Middle-earth will pay painstaking attention to the detail of the J.R.R. Tolkien novel. At least, that's what these banners tell me...
