So. A third X-Files sequel. Hands up who wants to see one?
Alright, you can put your hand down now. You need something to scroll down the page with.
But, seriously, is there anyone out there who doesn't want to see X-Files 3 become a reality? After all, original stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are both keen to return for another installment, as is creator Chris Carter - so what's the problem?
Well, from the sounds of Gillian Anderson's recent interview with Bloomberg: money. More specifically, the complete lack of funding that's currently being made available to finance it.
The possible solution? Crowdfunding. As Anderson put it:
"“We could crowdfund an X-Files movie. Yeah...That ultimately is what’s keeping it from happening, other than Fox giving the go ahead, which is not a small issue. But yeah, crowdfunding’s a good idea.”
Which, aside from confirming that Fox are still involved, is the closest thing to a confirmation we'll be seeing more of Mulder and Scully than we have in a while.
Which is obviously a very good thing - especially if crowdfunding gets us all the [X-Files 3](movie:559565) we've been waiting so long for...
What do you guys think? Would you like to see X-Files 3 go for Crowdfunding?
