Ye ol’ CW launched the series premier of “Flash.” I watched it this morning while catching up on some CofC. As usual, I would have preferred an older, rougher and metaphorically darker portrayal of the zippy crusader as opposed to the ubiquitous All-American, Smallville-esque heroes that have plagued the residents of DC Planet. I thought there was redemption from this trend beyond Green Arrow, but I was wrong.
Realizing that this would be asking a lot from the likes of Flash, I am still compelled to ask, "Why not?" Adam West’s Batman was no Michael Keaton and certainly only a glimmer of the Dark Knight that we all know and love today.
I contend that a sprinkle of evil is not only zesty, but accurate when portraying a vigilante super hero. Let’s be honest. These guys literally get away with murder. So why not add a little more Gotham to Metropolis, New York, and Central City. I cannot wait to see the Man of Steel against a sinister Gotham, in "Batman v Superman."
I want to see the King of Apokilips, Darkseid, traditionally a Superman foe, take on someone like Deadman. With access to such incredible special effects, why are we not seeing Martian Manhunter, Thom Kallor, and the Blue Beetle vs Deathstroke and Doom? If the Green Lantern franchise does not bring out Atrocitus, our future is bleek. Come on, DC. Batman cannot do it on his own.
Who do you want to see emerge as the next Blockbuster hitting evil hero?
