After the surprising reveal of this week, in which DC has announced its schedule until 2020, a news has just appeared: it seems that no matter how many comic book movie we will be seeing in the next years, there are still plenty of announcements to be made.
And the announcements are going to be of Vertigo (V for Vendetta), who is planning of releasing several movies, including in here the Joseph Gordon Levitt Sandman project.
Check out what Neil Gaiman (the creator of Sandman) has to say:
Despite talk last month about the script being worked on, Sandman wasn’t mentioned by name in today’s WB news release of scheduled DC Comics films. There are previously mentioned release dates without film titles attached, so it’s not clear if the status of the project has been altered or if the team at WB decided to focus their news on the easier to group together capes & tights titles due out. Has their been a change in the production timeline? Is Sandman going to be marketed differently? It’s not a DC Comics film. It’s a Vertigo film. That’s a different slate of films, and a different announcement.”
Another interesting project, which will see both DC and Vertigo characters united in the same film, is Justice League Dark (with Guillermo del Toro attached as director). Lastly, as we know, another project is on its way from Vertigo, this being Legion of Superheroes, which seems to be Warner Bros.’s answer to Guardians of the Galaxy.
