10 Games That Compliment Your Device!
With the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the potential for beautiful handheld device games has just increased along with screen sizes! Also, the iPad is possibly even better for some of these wonderful games! There are so many ways that our apps could shine on these new screens, particularly when the iPhone 6 Plus stops stretching apps to fit its screen size (compensating for something?).
Some of these games are brand new, but some are ones that have been out there for a long time and you really can't be without them. They are diverse, beautiful and will do more than pass the time while you're on the way to work. A lot of these titles are actually available on other platforms which makes them incredible to carry around in your pocket and experience wherever the day may take you. Infinity Blade II
Powered by Unreal Engine and developed by Epic Games, the company that brought us Gears of War, Infinity Blade II follows on from its predecessor and exceeds it in every way possible. There is also an Infinity Blade III, which is excellent, but Infinity Blade II still exceeds its achievements. Check out the trailer here, this game is amazing!
I have to say, I have Tiny Wings on my iPad Mini and I still play it after 2 years. You can even play with a friend and sit on either side of the device and race each other to the finish. The music, design and gaming dynamics are just so creative and cute. A great little game!
Walking Dead: The Game
This is not only one of the best games for your iPhone but one of the best experiences in terms of narrative gaming in a while! The story and characters are what makes Telltale's The Walking Dead a pleasure to play. There's not much "gaming" involved, but the story is so gripping I couldn't put it down.
Bastion has a seriously cool narrator, well designed levels with a lore and gaming mechanic to match. Going to work on the train was something I looked forward to so that I could continue to immerse myself in this crazy little world!
Limbo, in my mind, is one of the greatest argument points for video games as an art form. It is a stunningly designed world that is frightening, beautiful and challenging. There are moments of genuine emotion interweaved into a game with some of the most incredible visuals on any platform.
This is one insane side scroller. It's retro graphics and music are a constant delight as you plough through enemies with uppercuts and dash punches. This is just for pure fun and is guaranteed to pass the time in hilarious ways as you ride on the back of a velociraptor. Yep.
Superbrothers Sword and Sorcery
This is one of the most creative games I've ever seen, in terms of both gameplay and graphical design. Also, the game can be ridiculously funny, emotional and very beautiful all at the same time. You've got to see this trailer!
Device 6 is difficult to aptly describe. It is a poetic, challenging little puzzle game with an extremely rewarding story being told. I urge you to stick with the trailer if you like puzzle games and be prepared to read quickly as the player cycles through the text!
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Okay, this is admittedly in here because it's actually one of the best games of all time and is a real personal favourite of mine. Now it's on iPhone and iPad! Literally amazing!! To be able to be stuck waiting somewhere and start playing this game is a sign that I'm living in the right generation. What a game! Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
One word sums up this game in terms of my life right now: addicted. I cannot stop playing Hearthstone. Blizzard have made an amazing game that is totally and completely free to play! It's a turn based card game that is fast, interesting and rewards the time that you put in to it. A must for your devices!
Beat Sneak Bandit
What a great idea. This game is based around you moving your character to the beat of the music that's playing in the background, tap anywhere when it's not on the beat and you lose! A tough little game with some great music to match. See if it's for you here below!
The World Ends With You: Solo Remix
This is a beat 'em up, RPG style game that was one of the reasons that many people bought a DS. It's a really well made game that you will undoubtedly lose hours of your life playing.
Eufloria remains my favourite game for any iOS device. It's design is beyond compare in terms of creativity and enjoyment. I've replayed every level and I'm still captivated by it's simple yet imaginative design, check out the wonderful Stanley Kubrick style trailer here!
