We are right in the middle of the most wonderful time of the year, if you're a geek. No, not Christmas: Convention season! From mid-summer through fall, geektastic comic-cons blossom all over the country like flowers made of pure fandom hopes and dreams. Or...maybe that's the sinus medication I just took.

Either way, Stan Lee's Comikaze is the weekend after next, and guess what? If you live in the Los Angeles area or were planning on attending the convention, we have a discount on tickets for all you Moviepilot fans! Simply CLICK HERE and enter the special promo code "moviepilot" for a 10% discount on all tickets.

If you were on the fence about going, seriously...GO. Why? This is why.

An epic cosplay contest

The Comikaze Expo is holding its Third Annual Epic Cosplay Contest, so whether you're a hardcore cosplayer, putting together a costume for the first time, or just love looking at all the hard work others have put into their cosplay, this is your jam right here.

And seriously? They weren't joking about the "epic" part. Winners of the Group and Individual categories get $3,500 in cash monies and a free ticket to next year's Comikaze Expo. Dope.

Speaking of costumes...

Ultimate Trick-or-Treat on Halloween

Since the first day of Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo is falling on Halloween, they've decided to go all-out and hold their first-ever Ultimate Trick-or-Treat. What does that mean? That means 60,000 - that's sixty thousand - pieces of candy will be handed out to exhibitors to give to trick-or-treaters.

Who, by the way, get in for free if they're under 12 years of age AND get to stick around for a costume contest on the main stage. Plus, lots of characters will be roaming the halls of Comikaze for photo ops...dang. Now I'm kind of wishing I were a kid again.

Be part of a Guinness Book of World Records Human Tetris!

Have you ever wished to be in a life-sized, human version of Tetris? You haven't? What's WRONG with you? Okay, but seriously, if you ever have (read: you are rad), this is your chance.

Right about now, you're probably asking, "...What?" so I'll let the official Comikaze Tetris 30th Anniversary page explain for me:

Be a part of history as Tetris® and Stan Lee’s Comikaze attempt to set a Guinness World Record for the Longest Line of Human Tetris!

We are shaking up Comikaze Expo 2014 to celebrate the Tetris brand’s 30th anniversary by gathering the largest line of human Tetriminos ever! The event will take place at 4:00 pm on November 1st inside South Hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center. World famous costume retailer, Rasta Imposta, has offered participants an exclusive discount on their Tetrimino costumes just for this event – so sign up at the link below!

And after we break the world record, stick around to win some fun Tetris merchandise!

Awesome, right? You can get to that "link below" part by CLICKING HERE. You'll have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the Ticket Add-ons section - but hey, a few seconds of scrolling is worth being immortalized forever while wearing a giant Tetrimino costume, right?

An amazing guest line-up

And, of course, the best part about comic-cons is the ability to meet some of your idols, artists and celebrities you've admired for years, who have inspired you and created some of the greatest works - or portrayed some of the greatest characters - you've ever known.

Comikaze's guest line-up is bonkers this year. Seriously bananas. From the man himself, Stan Lee, to comic book icons like Brian Michael Bendis (We're not worthy!), Rob Liefield, Jim Lee, and John Romita, Jr., comic book fans will be in Heaven. Their media side of things isn't too shabby, either: Adam West, Kevin Smith, Gwendoline Christie, Tara Strong, John Barrowman and a host of others, Stan Lee's Comikaze 2014 will welcome some of the most iconic faces (and voices) in geekdom.

And...we'll be there!

Not only will all these insanely talented pillars of nerd culture be roaming the floor and booths of Comikaze 2014, your humble Moviepilot staff will be there, too, manning a booth (#1109) all weekend, handing out swag (and a pretty sweet contest), and nerding it up with fellow con-goers.

Plus, we'll be hosting a panel on Sunday at 2pm: The Power of Fans (This Means YOU), which will be all about, Yes, you. The one reading this - YOU. Fans.

So come on by and say hello. We'd love to see you there!
