It's been almost 30 years since the last Pee-wee Herman film, Big Top Pee-wee hit our screens. Surely the time is right for the long-rumored sequel to finally materialize?

Well, it seems that day might finally be here, since Paul Reubens has just dropped a Peewee Herman shaped bomb in the lap of Rolling Stone. During a routine interview, Reubens told the reporter that he'd expected a new Peewee movie to have been announced the previous day:

One last question: There were some rumors going around that you were working on another Pee-wee movie. Any updates on that?
There’s going to be a big announcement any minute now.
Yes. It’s been months and months of being right on the verge of being announced…I thought something was going to go public yesterday, actually, and that you’d be the first person I’d be talking about this with. But I’m thinking there will be something made public very soon. [...] It’s going to be amazing....I’m not kidding: It’s very imminent.

Reubens last mentioned this back in 2012, when he said a script had been written by Judd Apatow and production would begin shortly. But since it's now two years later and we still have no movie, you have to wonder about the credibility of his claims.

We shall see. In the meantime, here's an obligatory Peewee GIF because we can.
