One thing that can be said, particularly about Fallout 3, is that it sought to create a world that felt as if it had been decimated by nuclear apocalypse. The people reflected the horrendous, harsh existence they've had to create and you are thrown into this world to fend for yourself.
We all adored it, and needless to say we've wanted to see Fallout 4 ever since we finished 3's campaign. Then I happened to run across an image that was obviously designed as a joke, but I thought I'd throw up an article around it to explore just how close the Fallout series came to real life. Where did they draw their inspirations from, and could their screenshots be mistaken for reality, or the other way around?
Clever image, even though we will actually never be getting fallout 4 in that case anyway because they'd never make the game, a lot of us would be dead and we wouldn't actually be living in Fallout 4, that doesn't make sense and....yeah. STILL, I thought I'd throw up these images and see what you guys think. Can you see life imitating art? Or the other way around? Let me know in the comments!!
Fallout or Real World?
The following are screenshots and still taken from Fallout, most are images that the team rendered before Fallout 3 and ideas for Fallout 4 and they really are amazing!
What is it that gives them away? For me its the rendering of outside in the first picture out the window and in the second its the floor on the left.
We recognise that video game character design anywhere! Always something a little off with them.
These were all images that the team at Bethesda rendered in preparation for Fallout, including the one below which is remarkable. Notice something wrong on the bottom right side of the picture?
The one below is also an astounding achievement. Will this area be in Fallout 4?!
Now, the following are taken from the real world! They demonstrate just how close Fallout was to real life, from the dilapidated parts of Detroit, to the barren wasteland of Chernobyl. We have sent so many places to complete destruction.
It's insane to think there are places like this in the world.
These two really confused me!
The snow just looks fake in some places...
Do you think you could tell between Fallout & Real Life?
Well, if you believed my descriptions of the images then no you couldn't. All of these are taken from the real world. Insane!! I merely wanted to facilitate an place where we could all stare intently at these images in awe of the apocalyptic landscapes that exist in our own world, and also video games beautifully render the world around us.
Also, I apologise for my Fallout 4 references, wanted to see if I gave you a frame of reference for the pictures that it would alter how you perceived reality. No hard feeling yeah?!
I'm sure the true Fallout fans would have realised they weren't real places from Fallout 3, but I thought it'd be fun to see if it was possible to confuse the two. Hope you enjoyed it anyway! In terms of Fallout 4, could it be this close to the real world? Could they make a game this realistic?
I don't really insist on it, I just want them to make the damn thing. Announce it Bethesda!!
