Possible Gears of War 4 Title

Leaks, rumours, suspicions and slander. That kind of aptly sums up the Gears of War 4 news we've received since Black Tusk confirmed they were working on the game. Though one particular piece of news just recently resurfaced in my mind due to the fact that the date that was supplied by this "leak" still hasn't arrived.

This screenshot was revealed at the conclusion of Gamescom 2014, which details a title for the next Gears of War game: Gears of War: Repercussion. We shall dive into a discussion regarding what this could mean below, just check out the image here first!

Now this news is a little over a month old (I'll get to the new news in a moment) but as you can see in the bottom left-hand corner there is an embargo date set! Which would mean that we have exactly two weeks from today to wait until we hear some actual Gears of War announcements! That's an insanely short period of time if this is accurate.

Additionally, I've been thinking about this [Gears of War](movie:671276): Repercussion title, what could that be about? Could the actions carried out by Marcus and his team have lead to the awakening of an even greater force hidden beneath the earth? Perhaps some larger, deeper enemy force will be awoken on a different side of the planet.

If you remember Delta squad allowed Adam's Supermachine to activate at the conclusion of Gears of War 3, thus could some kind of ancestral Locust race be awoken from the blast? Well, if this leak is true, we won't have very long to find out!

Gears of War 4 Returns to Dark Roots

I know Judgement didn't hit everybody's needs and desires in terms of what they wanted. But I think we can continue, but we can also--we have a new team there to really help with the continuity. I think we can make sure that we're investing in this thing for the next decade, which is how I want to think about it.
We've talked about getting back to something … I think the story and the setting and what they're going through ... in a Gears of War--the name of the game, it really meant something to what that game was about. We've got to get back to that. The feeling of those individuals.

Gears of War

I am totally for a departure from Gears of War: Judgement, there was nothing very fresh or particularly interesting going on in that game. Of course Gears is Gears, and it's always a pleasure to play it! But we want to have the same kind of relationship with the characters in Gears of War 4 that we did with the initial trilogy. We want to feel a connection when we lose one and still have that great banter between teammates.

Microsoft are in complete control of Gears now, well I mean in the sense that they own it. I really hope that the decision making is happening within the development team at Black Tusk with Rob Fergusson heading the project. But with Microsoft's support and funds, I'm sure this is going to be the biggest Gears of War game yet. I feel like this title will actually force me to buy an Xbox One...

Anyway, what are your thoughts on Spencer's statement? Do you think the title is Repercussions? IS November 7th the day we've been waiting for? Let me know in the comments!!

Will we hear news on November 7th?
