Moviepilot continues to grow, and the growth is primarily tied to the creativity and excitement that is created by you. Moviepilot started as a publisher, and about two years ago we decided to move towards becoming a platform, where we give you the opportunity to express your ideas and opinions in the most creative and unrestrained way possible. We launched our editor quietly, almost exactly one year ago, and ever since, Moviepilot has been growing nicely.

We took the year to listen and to learn. We wanted to understand what you want to write and how you would like to create it. Reviews have always been on top of the list. We see a number of people already producing reviews with the tools at hand. But there is always room to improve.

*I encourage you to jump over to the profiles of James Porter, Emily Murray, Rosalyn Lim, Brian Finamore, or the great people of Point of Geeks, and read some of their reviews.

So it was clear to us that the next step should be a great way for you to present your opinion and review of a film. And we're launching it today.

Creating the review

Creating a review is as simple as creating an article on Moviepilot. All you need to do is to select the film (game, book, comic, etc.) you want to review first.

How to create a review, select the name.

Add your image (one will be automatically chosen for you if we have the movie in our database, but you can choose to delete and pick your own) and a rating, the rest is just a regular article.

That's about it, not much magic, just the tools you know and are used to. You can start creating your review right away. Options to create it directly from your editors start screen will be added in the coming days. Expect a few glitches, since this is an invite to a public beta test for the review feature.

Known Limitations

For now, your reviews are not yet part of your profile and they don't appear on tag pages. Please let us know of all reviews on the Facebook group, so we can take a look. When we receive good feedback from you, each review looks great, and we feel the feature is ready, we'll include it on all pages and make it widely accessible. For now, the only way for you to create a review is this link.

But why do you need polls in reviews?

We believe in simplicity. So, when we began to think about the tools necessary to make reviews really 'pop,' we decided that polls were something we could potentially omit. But after experimenting internally with the new format, we decided that we shouldn't sacrifice creative options over simplicity. So, we put them back in to see what you do with them. If you like them, then there they shall stay. If not, be gone with them! You have a big hand in our creative process, even if you don't always know it!

Whats next?

Now it's down to you! Reviews are one of the most popular forms of content on Moviepilot and we hope we've enabled you with the tools to make them shine!

This new format allows for you to highlight the most exciting element of your review as a title, so we'd suggest writing the review and then picking a short, snappy and engaging snippet which describes the tone/angle of your review.

As always if you have any feedback, we'd love to hear it. While you're experimenting with the new format, we'll be here working on the next big thing. And there are definitely some big changes coming. Watch this space!
