Hey DC fans! This story is very interesting and it has stuck with me for a while now. We all now by now that a Wonder Woman stand alone picture is coming to theatres through the DC Cinematic Universe through the slew of films until 2020.

“The Hollywood Reporter” reports that Warner Bros. Studios is looking for a female director to direct Gal Gadot in the standalone Wonder Woman film. This is very good news for me. As a filmmaker myself, I have always been attracted to fellow women filmmakers, not just because they have the same interest, but because they are not afraid to put themselves in an art they love that is dominated by men. But that’s not the main reason I’m happy with this story.

The reason this story is good news for me is because maybe having a female director on this film might make it much better. Now hear me out before you start ranting that I am sexist. It is true that Zack Snyder is directing Gadot in [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870)3 and the two part Justice League film. But you have to remember, those films are an ensemble based story. Regardless if Wonder Woman is to be an origin story or not, it focuses on Diana alone and I believe to get into the inner core of who Wonder Woman is as a person, Gadot is better suited to be directed by a director that can share the same emotions or sexual issues that a woman deals with.

Now I return to the statement I made about loving women directors and why it’s a turn on for me, even though I am bisexual. These are people who are not given the opportunity to direct a character they might very well love because it is not the norm. If you remember, Patty Jenkins was attached to direct Thor: The Dark World before Alan Taylor took over. Especially in an age where superhero films are so popular, it would be awesome to see a female director, who very well may know Wonder Woman inside and out, take the helm and make this a fantastic feature.

Now I’m curious as to what you guys think. What did you think of my comments? Do you think a female director should helm Wonder Woman? If so, why? Whatever you think; comment below let me know!
