The voice of Smaug, Benedict Cumberbatch, has been blown into superstardom lately. With his fandom of 'Cumberbitches' and masses of supporters thanks to roles such as Sherlock Holmes and the evil Khan in Star Trek, it seems the British actor has no intention of slowing down.
Keeping true to demonstrating the diversity and range of talents, Benedict was cast in the role of Smaug for the the second and third installment of Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy. The role consisted of both voice over and motion capture, and Benedicts smooth, evil voice provided the perfect dialect for the tyrannical Smaug. With the help of motion capture expert Andy Serkhis, Benedict nailed the character and brought Tolkiens dragon to life, much to the delight of fans.
