Dear Tatiana Maslany,
You could do better.
And I am in no way talking about Orphan Black. You are brilliant.
I recently read that you would be doing a show off-Broadway, and I got super excited. Then I read who wrote the play you would be doing.
Neil LaBute? Really?
Again, this is nothing against you or your acting abilities. But why do a show by a writer who is known for not writing women well, and for being a big misogynist in general?
On Orphan Black, you play a horde of strong, well-rounded, flawed, yet realistic women. Why do a show by a writer who doesn't employ any of those characteristics except flawed?
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this show is different. Maybe you'll be so good no one will notice how flat the character is. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed.
