Yes I know, Shaun Masters is posting an article? I know it has been a while. I've been tied up and been really busy with this new job. Virtually no real time to myself to pump out articles like I use to. However, that has NOT stopped me from following the most anticipated movies and their news as they pop up.
You'd have to be living under a rock the size of a football field to have missed the "leak", I mean the release of Marvel's [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035) trailer. If you are however of that sad crew, there are many sites that have the breakdowns and video for your eyes. If there is any review you check, it has to be that of Moviepilot's own Catrina Dennis. It was very insightful and touched on all the basics of the trailer. However, there are some things that nobody else has spoken about, and that's where I step in. I have to come out of hiding to stir up the theory pot.
**DISCLAIMER** - I do remember how unforgiving readers can be so I must say this...This is THEORY based and I was going to wait until they release the second piece of footage but it has been eating at my brain and gotta share!
My first theory has to do with the bad ass female that we all know from The Avengers:
If I had to guess, my money would be that she has sneaked her way into Ultron's dugout. Notice the hot tub in the background, It could be where he has got his new Vibranium digs -
She looks petrified. It could very well be possible that she has found out where he will be hiding after he crashed the party at the tower. Now, you might be asking how the hell could I even come up with this? Well there is a scene from the trailer that seems to be showing her interrogating someone:
She is obviously talking to someone here with concern, and no it isn't Stark. People, do you guys not know how trailers are made? Sheesh. Take a look to the left of her in the image. See that yellow light bar? Could it be that this is an energy barrier for a cell? We've seen Marvel use it in [Thor: The Dark World](movie:206462), and Agents of Shield. If it is, who could she be interrogating? If I had to make any kind of half-educationally-assed guess, it could be either Strucker or, OR Klaw? It's just speculation, but either way she stumbles on Ultron's Hideout and doesn't seem happy as to what she walked in on.
I think it is here where she is "killed" or maybe the rest of the team thinks so. I know The Green Guy might? Now, I know that the Hulkbuster vs Hulk scene is said to take place at the beginning of the film, but It just does not make sense. I have watched the trailer numerous times, and there are things that just doesn't add up to the chronological order that we are made to believe. Either way, Hulk does look pissed, but he doesn't look his normal rage self either. This episode is either of pure emotion, or he is on a hex by Scarlett Witch. Maybe she has led him to believe that Widow is dead so that he will be of pure emotionally unstable rage.
Ain't nobody wanna fight a rage monster, especially an emotional one. The hulkbuster scene could very well be during the middle of the film. That's the best I could come up with because then Widow slides out the Quinjet on a sexy new Harley and then they share a moment...
Whether Widow is really killed off or not, it's hard to say. Whedon has promised death, but let's face it, nobody important has died and STAYED dead in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Maybe he could break the formula? But, if not Widow then who?
Thor isn't killed but he is sent somewhere!
Nobody could come up with a logical explanation for this scene. Except for a possible Herbal Essence Commercial. Ha! Well, I have a theory. Stumbling upon a more upgraded Ultron, maybe he is killed and/or sent to another dimension.
Alright, hold up! Before you crack the whip across my back for a flogging just hear me out!
The visual appearance and powers of the character have varied, but common powers include superhuman levels of strength, speed, stamina, durability, and reflexes; flight at subsonic speeds; and various offensive weapons such as concussive blasts of energy fired from its optical sensors or hands and an "encephalo-ray," which places victims into a deathlike coma. - Ultron Wiki
There is a scene from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes - Season 1, Episode 22 where Thor tries to attack Ultron and he is beamed in the face. The team thought he was killed, but evidently he was sent to another dimension. Not saying that Joss Whedon watches cartoons, but could he be adopting that very concept? It would be mind-blowing to say the least, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that would entertain it. He wouldn't obviously physically send Thor off planet Earth - he is shown to be in other battle scenes - but it could be that Ultron uses Scarlett's power to mind-f*%^ The Avengers to exploit their fears.
The Avenger's will face their toughest foe yet, Ultron is a menacing, "batshit crazy" sentient being, hell bent on eradicating the human race to "save it." Yea, totally nutts. If this trailer did anything but satisfy the thirst we've had since the announcement at Comic-Con 2013, it has left us with more questions than answers. Hopefully the new footage, said to be shown during Agents of Shield's next episode will give us more clues as to how this shit is going to go down!
What do you guys think? Have I been gone too long and gone batshit crazy to even think these theories or could they be positive speculation? Let me know your thoughts below!
I'll leave you with the trailer one more time because let's face it, can't get enough of it. I know I can't:
