With the recent reports of Warner Bros. & DC Comics movie slate starting in 2016 with Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and ending with a Green Lantern reboot in 2020. When will we see the official Man of Steel 2 and our first stand alone Batman film with Ben Affleck?

The movie slate WB/DC have released is as follows:

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - March 25, 2016

Suicide Squad - August 5, 2016

Wonder Woman - June 23, 2017

Justice League: Part One - November 10, 2017

The Flash - March 23, 2018

Aquaman - July 27, 2018

Shazam - April 5, 2019

Justice League: Part Two - June 24, 2019

Cyborg - April 3, 2020

Green Lantern - June 19, 2020

So when will we see The Dark Knight & Man of Steel back in their own films? Well, it's pretty simple. Look at the dates of the other films, notice how big of a gap there is between Aquaman[Aquaman](movie:264237)and Shazam? And between Justice League: Part 2 and Cyborg? Wouldn't it make sense that Warner Bros. & DC Comics have dates there that they aren't releasing just yet? Actually, it makes perfect sense. WB & DC are waiting to reveal these slates because...well, they're competing with Marvel Studios. They're waiting for the opportune moment. Marvel Studios has SIX unnamed films between 2016 and 2020, so of course WB/DC are waiting to reveal the dates of their two biggest superheros. Giving people time to adjust to their new heroes before they whip out their big guns. That leaves another question that needs answering, which one will come first? Well, my guess is Batman. They've already brought back Superman, and yes he will be facing off against Batman in Dawn of Justice, even if it's been reported that Batman is the main focus of the film, it is still not a solo film. Plus, there wouldn't be a more perfect time to give Batfleck his first solo Batman film. If I had to put my own release date for the Batman solo film, I'd say November 2018, or May 2019. There's the perfect amount of time in between Aquaman and Shazam, they'll need to fill in the gaps, and given [Justice League Part Two](movie:2351220) will be released June 24, 2019, it only makes sense.

That leaves [Man of Steel 2](movie:1516560), why wait this long to make a sequel? Well, Superman has already been established in Man of Steel, they need to make way for other characters within the universe. The perfect time to bring Man of Steel back would be the big time gap between Justice League: Part 2 & Cyborg. There is almost a year between each film and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't already have a spot for the sequel before Cyborg. That's a very big gap between Man of Steel and it's sequel. Why? Well, maybe they want Zack Snyder to direct? Since he will be busy with both Justice League films, it would only make sense. But I wouldn't be surprised either if they put out both a Batman film and the Man of Steel sequel in between both Justice League films. If they really want to do it, they will make it happen.
