Now, when Joss Whedon promised us a darker, more personal and more emotional Avengers movie with Avengers: Age of Ultron, full of "death, death and death," we took him at face value, and prepared ourselves for a pretty harrowing experience come May 2015.
Then, Marvel released the first trailer for the film, and things...well, things got a little too real. Suddenly, Joss wasn't just threatening to hurt our heroes in some vague, abstract way - he was totally prepared to beat the hell out of them, and leave them very much less alive. So, it's pretty safe to say that we were...a little emotional.
And then, this happened:
Martin Revelation Films put out the above spoof of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, and ALL OF THE EMOTIONS HAPPENED.
Now, sure, the trailer was pretty darned emotional before, but add in a (slightly edited, it seems) dose of Celine Dion singing her butt off? Well, then it's not only emotional, but perfectly timed to tap into all of our geek-fueled Avengers angst.
Think I'm kidding? Take another look...
"Love Can Touch Us One Time"
Cue, Peggy Carter-related weeping.
"And Last For A Lifetime"
Like Bruce Banner's giant green rage issues, say?
"And Never Let Go Dear"
As Ultron clearly isn't...
"You Open the Door"
Yes Cap, we get it. You kicked open that door like it was Rose's heart in Titanic. Can't you see we're already tearing up, man?
Cue Chorus, and a Montage of ALL THE SADNESS
Thor's Hammer Matches the Drums
Because...Thunder Gods have great timing? (And, in fairness, Chris Hemsworth looks like he would make an epic drummer)
And now The Scarlet Witch is actually singing along with Celine, because this wasn't heart-rending enough already... Surely there's no way this could get any more emotional?
No, wait, I spoke too soon. The Hulk's doing it too.
"There's Nothing I Fear"
Because the Hulkbuster armor will save us all. Probably.
The Abject Chorus of SADNESS Returns
WHY, Joss? WHY?
And, finally, one last time...
"My Heart Will..."
Break? Is that it? It'll break, right?
So, sure, I'm now all emotional, and completely unprepared for whatever Joss is going to throw at us in [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035), but I'll be damned if that trailer didn't just make me even more excited for the movie than I was before.
I'm just not sure whether that's a good thing or not...
What do you guys think? Feeling ALL THE EMOTIONS?
