We've seen Daniel Radcliffe being awesome and caring about gender equality before, but it's always nice to catch another example of D-Rad rocking some modern views.

In a characteristically charming interview with Associated Press, the interviewer hit on something that's obviously been bugging Daniel Radcliffe for a while...

Now, I guess this could be kind of embarrassing, but it's not his own self-image that Radcliffe is getting cheesed off about. It was that fact that he'd been told repeatedly what an unconventional sex symbol he was, and something didn't sit right...

Maybe it's just because people have seen him grow from a kid in Harry Potter?

Except that Radcliffe isn't buying that as an explanation...

Touché, Daniel Radcliffe, touché...

Whatever your feelings on gender politics, he's certainly got a point - and an interesting one. He's just saying that there shouldn't be a double standard in the way that male and female actors are sexualized. I love the way Daniel Radcliffe talks about issues like this - he just playfully raises a question to make people think.

And as for Daniel Radcliffe being a sex symbol... I think the interviewer could have just cited the time he got all hot and bothered in horse-heavy erotic play Equus...

What do you think about Daniel Radcliffe's statement on the media viewing him and Emma Watson as 'sex symbols'?
