As I walk my journey through life I have met some extraordinary people, heard tales of extraordinary people, and continue to read about these people. Humans that seem to have abilities beyond the normal understanding or social cultural norms. Many claim we are coming into an age of awakening, I will not elaborate on that subject but these people are said to be part of this movement, along with many other children and even some adults. These are what many would call super-humans, even saying they poses super powers or abilities. Below I am going to go through my top 10 favorite people with extraordinary abilities and the superheroes that share that ability.
#1 Natasha Demkina:
This young Russian woman has an amazing ability. Having one of Superman’s most famous powers, she is said to have the ability to change her vision to see with in a person’s body. It is said she is able to see disruptions in circulation, tumors, or other diseases within the bodies organs. With that knowledge she can diagnose many diseases.
“I was at home with my mother and suddenly I had a vision. I could see inside my mother’s body and I started telling her about the organs I could see. Now, I have to switch from my regular vision to what I call medical vision. For a fraction of a second, I see a colorful picture inside the person and then I start to analyze it.” says Demkina
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Superman X-ray Vision. Won’t lie this one is pretty wicked to me.
#2 Liew Thow Lin
This Malaysian gentleman maybe our first shot at a real life Magneto! Scientist have not been able to detect anything magnetic going on with his body but as you can see he seems to have an ability to hold and balance an extraordinary amount of metal objects on his skin. So you be the judge is he magnetic or just really good at balancing objects on himself?
SUPERHERO. . .VILLAIN COUNTERPART: Magneto. Although it is not confirmed he has a magnetic pull to his body we may need some concern of his children, grand children, and great grandkids. The power may grow with them ;)
#3 Kevin Richardson
This guy is awesome. Maybe because he is great looking and can make the king of the jungle look so freaken cute and cuddly. Reason I love this man and believe his ability should make the list because he focuses through his intuition, knowledge of individuals, and the prides as whole when he interacts with these wild animals. He has been accepted into several different prides, in which he holds different types of rank in the pride, some prides he is on top, others he is the middle or low man on the totem pole. Needless to say he has a gift of being able to interact with totally wild animals and become part of their prides. He is bringing awareness through his ability to help conservation efforts in keeping these beautiful creates in the wild and from poachers. Imagine a world where language is not spoken through word and we all understand one another through out intentions and actions.
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Animal Man or Vixen. They both pretty much share the same abilities and story-lines interact largely. So I am giving Kevin both, he is not able to manipulate the animal abilities into his own but his ability to interact, gain trust, and acceptance from these large cats and wild dogs is the first step to becoming a real life Animal Man.
#4 Veronica Seider
In Stuttgart Germany 1972 a dentist named Veronica Seider, had a visual acuity 20x better than average person. Claim is she can identify people more than a mile off. Remarkable, if true. The typical person would need a set of binoculars to be able to accurately accomplish that.
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Hawkgirl super-acute vision. I know we can list several hero’s with amazing eye site even go back to Superman but the first person that jumped into my head was Hawkgirl. Maybe just the idea of hawk like vision but I am happy with this choice.
#5 Daniel Tammet
He is a mathematical genius, capable of astronomical calculations in the blink of an eye. And he's a gifted linguist, speaking nine languages, including one he created called Manti. He was also able to recite Pi up to 22,514 digits in five hours and nine minutes on 14 March 2004. His ability is to memorize incredible amounts of information.
SUPERHERO. . . VILLAIN COUNTERPART: Brainiac or my other choice was Phantom Strange. It was hard for me, I do want to relate this guy to a villain but his abilities with being able to calculate powers up to the 7th degree in his mind alone puts him on his own level. As he describes it in his mind every whole number up to 10,000 has its own unique texture, color, shape and feel thus he can calculate with associating each with a different memory. That is pretty extraordinary.
#6 Harold Williams
The average person can speak around 1.6 languages, where as our man Harold is an Omni-linguistic and could speak 58 languages. He only reminds me of one X-Man Cypher. He actually loved learning new languages and often traveled throughout his life to regions to learn different cultures and their language.
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Cypher. He is a mutant who possesses a superhuman intuitive facility for translating languages, spoken or written, human or alien in origin. I think Harold is close enough.
#7 Raj Mohan Nair
Raj is known as the Electro-man. His story is a bit sad on how he found his ability. When he was 7 years old he lost his mother, heartbroken young Raj climbed a transformer and grabbed one of the live wires, to his amazement, nothing happened. He is said to withstand up to 10 amps of electrical current without literally frying his insides. Withstanding 30x the electrical current that of an average human. If you were to even attempt worst case scenario you are cooked, best case permanent muscle damage with the added stopping of your heart.
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Black Lightning. Born with the ability to generate and magnify external localized electromagnetic phenomena, by manipulating intense bio-electric fields generated by his body. Raj cannot redirect the energy but just act as a conductor for it to pass through but imagine if he could.
#8 John Ferraro (Gino Martino)
A pro wrestler and famous strong man, John Ferraro makes this list for the sheer ability to take a jackhammer to his head! Referred to as "The Human Anvil", his specialty is breaking heavy objects such as concrete cinderblocks over his head or having an assistant to drop bowling balls, operate a jackhammer, or smashes his head with a sledge hammer. For this all I can think is Ben Grimm.
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Thing’s Resistance To Physical Injury.
#9 Stig Severinsen
Known as the real-life Aquaman for his record breaking 22 minutes of holding his breath while submerged underwater! Previously breaking his own record in the Guinness World Record book. Before his first world record, which took him into a shark tank for 20 minutes 10seconds, he accomplished feats such as diving 236 ft (72 meters) in below-zero waters and swimming to the next whole in only his speedo’s.
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Aquaman. This man is a ruler of the seas, although he was not raised by the ocean like our honorable mention, this man has proven he can handle many kinds of waters from temp, to depth, to time of holding breath.
#10 Louis Cyr
Possibly the strongest man that ever lived to date. This French Canadian has long past but is still known for the feats that claimed his fame as being the world’s strongest man. Our real life Hulk has been said to have lifted 500 pounds (227 kg) with three fingers while back lifting 4,337 pounds (1,967 kg). If that does not impress you he even grasped two ropes strapped to his arms while at the end was each horse trying to pull his arms a part. There are a few other strong men out there today that have pulled off feats such as holding back 2 airplanes as they took off for a minute but I still give it to Louis Cyr for the strongest man to live to date. (Please feel free to comment below anyone you feel maybe considered stronger)
SUPERHERO COUNTERPART: Hulk. I will let you decide if he deserves that title :D.
Liam Hoekstra – Baby Hulk
Born without the myostain protein, this little man's body looks like a bodybuilders without actually doing anything but thanks to science little Hulk is back to being a normal boy. They were able to locate and treat the gene switch that turns on and off the myostain protein, and to think all you need is a good scientist to turn that off for you and you will be a human Hulk.
Bajau People: Sulbin – Real Life Aquaman
Sometimes referred to as “Sea Gypsies” this tribe is famous for how they live their seaborne lifestyles. One man, Sulbin, is most famously known for his ability to dive 20 meters under water, walk on the seabed, and hunt with his spear gun up to five minute intervals. Stig beats his time by 17 minutes but the ability to hunt and walk on the sea floor makes this man to be honorable mentioned.
Shakuntala Devi – Human Computer
There is a lot about her out there and I think she makes almost every article. So I wanted to put her in honorable mentions. She has the natural ability to calculate numbers beyond normal human ability. Such as the cube root of 61,629,875 and the seventh root of 170,859,375 and passed it with flying colors.
