Can you believe it's been 13 years since the first Fast and Furious movie came out? I can remember being 11 years old and convincing my parents to let me see it. Going from looking away during the sex scenes (because I was watching my parents) to now, I've honestly grown up with this franchise. Ja Rule was in the first movie - like, it was long enough ago that JA RULE was relevant when it premiered.
The first film's budget was an estimated $38 million, and it ended up grossing $207,283,925 worldwide. With greater expectations as the series advanced, they constantly lived up to the hype, all while providing a dope soundtrack every step of the way.
Now, it seems, the hype for [Fast & Furious 7](movie:264263) may be even greater than any of the previous movies. Of course, Paul Walker is giving his final performance in the movie, which is clearly going to be amazing. And it seems like every movie, they up the stakes a bit with the absolutely ridiculously awesome driving scenes.
But now, the PR strategy surrounding the movie appears to be stronger than ever. In an email about the launch, movie representatives wrote:
Because of our fans, our saga has grown bigger and better with every chapter. In just 7 days, we will reveal the first trailer for our next installment – FURIOUS 7 – at The Road to Furious 7: Trailer Launch Event at Universal Studios in Los Angeles!
Don't worry, though. If you don't live in Los Angeles or won't be able to make the live event on November 1st, there will also be a live stream to be played online and on the E! channel. You can also ask questions to the cast by going on Instagram and using the #AskFurious7 tag in your Instagram video questions.
I might have to go on there and ask Michelle Rodriguez why she's so gorgeous. And really just spend most of the time on the video lamenting the fact that we will never get married or have children.
I also might ask Tyrese what happened to his music career. Although, he probably doesn't care about it AT ALL anymore now that he's literally bathing in millions from this franchise.
I have also been meaning to ask Vin Diesel multiple questions, but, up to this point I haven't had any kind of outlet to do so. Most importantly, I would ask him to explain the "Drunk in Love" video he made (after making it clear that I'm not making fun of him in any way because he could obviously crush my skull with his biceps). But, just a quick question. Like, "Vin, Vin... Mr. Diesel, Why did you do this?" (video below)
Lastly, I'd probably ask Ludacris why he cut off his afro... Like, I can kind of see how it may have been a strong career move, but I just want to fully understand it. Was his rapping power all contained in his 'fro, like Samson? This is why these are the the important questions, people.
And those are pretty much the main questions I'd have for the cast. What would you want to know? I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this. It's just so rare to see an ORIGINAL movie franchise remain this good for this long. I'd be interested to see what kind of consensus there is for the best movie in the franchise. Vote below!
