Marvel Studios may have finally found their Dr. Strange. The studio is about to begin negotiations with Benedict Cumberbatch, who seems to be the their (final) choice for the role.
The news that Joaquin Phoenix will helm the role of Dr. Strange has been around for the past few months. Then, when it was found that no final deal had been made with him, several other names came around as choices, namely, Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club), Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), and of course Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, Star Trek: Into Darkness). Now studio is about to begin the negotiation with Cumberbatch and (hopefully) finalize the deal.
Dr. Strange was born during early 1960s by the hands of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Those of you who are not familiar with the character here's how Deadline-Hollywood describes him:
He’s a neurosurgeon who becomes Sorcerer Supreme, protecting Earth against magical and mystical threats with powers of sorcery, mysticism, and martial arts.
Jon Spaihts is penning the script (Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer wrote the first draft), and Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us from Evil) is directing. Marvel's Kevin Feige will be producing the movie.
I'm all-in to see Cumberbatch play the role. Let me know what you guys think about the cast in the comments section below.
