With recent word that actress Malese Jow has been added to the cast of the CW's "The Flash" in the role of Linda Park it gives rise to the hope that we will see the introduction of Wally West sooner rather than later.
"The Flash"s producers have taken a direct approach to their mythos and delved right into the superheroics. Barry Allen was in uniform from the pilot episode more or less, even though he has yet to adopt the title of [The Flash](series:1068303). The character introductions have been smooth and natural with even Ronnie Raymond AKA Firestorm being played by Robbie Amell in a flashback scene. I think it is safe to say that Raymond and Dr. Stein may get some type of Dr. Manhattan mind meld at some point deep in the heart of the STAR Labs particle accelerator.
With all the discussion surrounding the casting of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm AKA Human Torch in Fox's summer of 2015 reboot of "Fantastic Four" and the departure from the traditional depiction of the character, it seems that "Flash" fans are not too concerned with the likelihood that an African American actor will be cast as Wally West the first Kid Flash and later third Flash in the comic books. Expect the fancasting to begin shortly.
Taking cues from "Flash"s sister show "Arrow" we can expect that when introduced Wally will be older than previous versions as Roy Harper is depicted being nearer to 20 years old now, as he is becoming Red Arrow/Arsenal. With Jow's Park clearly not a teen and Barry himself being in his mid twenties it stands to reason that Kid Flash won't be a kid actually.
In the last scene of the premiere episode we saw a glimpse into a possible future with the reveal of a headline from 2024 telling of the loss of the hero known as The Flash in a crisis which was averted. Some speculate that this show will take nine years ala "Smallville" to reach that story point. Others have put forth that a time travel element and the seemingly rapid unfolding of the story may address this event much sooner than that, with Zoom already revealed to be on the horizon.
What is known is that the CW is very adept at superhero soaps and the inclusion of Linda Park all but assures us that we will be getting another romantic pairing to go with the Barry/Iris/Eddie triangle..quadrangle if Felicity Smoak sticks around. Another possibility is that Colton Haynes' Red Arrow/Arsenal and our eventual Wally will spinoff into the new "Titans" TV show being developed for TNT next season. It would expand the Arrow/Flashverse and bring loyal viewers over for a JLA light if you will. Though it has been said that the different networks would not have interconnected shows like with "Gotham" this year, setting "Titans" in this universe seems like a no brainer. It would also not be the first time a connected universe shared different networks as "Star Trek;TNG", "DS9" and eventually "Voyager" did it in the 1990's.
