Terrence Malick has been upping his output at the rate of...say...a normal director (almost). The legend has lent his producing skills to The Better Angels, directed by his former editor A.J Edwards.

Edwards takes a black and white look at Lincoln's early years; his relationship with his mother, his upbringing in rural Indiana, and his turn towards statesmanship.

You can see Malick's influence, with freeform camera work, abstracted sequences and a focus on the philosophy and worldview of the young Lincoln.

It stars Brandon Denney as Abe, alongside Jason Clarke, Diane Kruger, Wes Bentley, and Brit Marling.
