BREAKING NEWS!!! Marvel has released the line up to the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 3 films and I have the details. Now we already have had Phase 2 continuing with Captain America: The Winter Soldier back in April and Guardians of the Galaxy back in August. Phase 2 is set to conclude with the new crossover Avengers Age of Ultron in May which will kick off the Summer 2015 movie season and Phase 2 is set to finish up with Ant-Man in July 2015.

At a special event in Hollywood at the El Capitan Theatre, Marvel president Kevin Feige has released the official line-up of films that will bring together fan favorites like Thor, Captain America and the Guardians of the Galaxy confirmed to get their sequels and they are to bring in a whole new gallery of heroes to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that doesn't stop there!!! Feige also stated that Phase 3 is set to culminate in the Avengers Infinity War which will be split into two parts with Part 1 being released in 2018 and Part 2 released in 2019.

The first film to kick off Phase 3 will feature the return of Chris Evans as Captain America in Captain America: Civil War. The film will also feature the return of fan-favorite Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Iron Man as well as newcomer Chadwick Boseman, who is set to make his film debut as Black Panther. The film will pit both Captain America and Iron Man against each other and Civil War on the big screen may be coming sooner than we think. Though no villains have been confirmed yet, it can be assumed that the main antagonist (in my opinion) could be either the returning Red Skull or Marvel could bring in Cap's other archenemy Baron Zemo. But that's just me. Captain America: Civil War is set for release on May 6, 2016

In Fall 2016, we will be introduced to another new MCU character and it is the Master of Mystical Arts himself Doctor Strange. The film will be directed by Scott Derrickson and since Benedict Cumberbatch has denied his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the search goes on for the lead role. The debut of Doctor Strange is set for release on November 4, 2016. More details to follow on Doctor Strange. But I think that the villain for that film should either be Dormammu or Baron Karl Mordo or both. That's also my opinion.

Come May 2017, the Guardians of the Galaxy are set to make their epic return on the silver screen. This will be the first of three films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And this isn't the first time that Marvel has released more than one individual film. It was moved from the previously confirmed July 28th 2014 release date for one particular reason.

As I said about Guardians of the Galaxy 2 being moved from July to May, I mean that for the next film set for release in 2017 and that is the third Thor film, thus titled Thor: Ragnarok. The film states that Thor may be going up against his biggest challenge yet aside from what he will face in Age of Ultron. According to Feige, he states that "Ragnarok means the end of all things". Is this a rumor or coincidence? Hmmm. We may have to find out when it hits theaters in July 2017. Though no villains are confirmed, I have high hopes that Loki will return and that the new villain (fingers crossed) is the Enchantress.

To finish off 2017, fan favorite Black Panther will at last be getting his very own film after making his debut in Captain America: Civil War while being played by Chadwick Boseman. Though there is no details on Black Panther yet, we may need to keep our ears open for the next few years. Black Panther is set for release in November of 2017.

Now we can assume that the third Avengers film Avengers: Infinity War will be split into two films. And yes it's true my friends. I hope they pull this off just like Warner Bros did with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in 2010 and 2011 and Lionsgate will more than likely pull off Hunger Games Mockingjay with Part 1 set for release in just a few short weeks and Part 2 set for release in 2015.

Now the third Avengers film may or may not feature as many fan favorites as can be expected. But the first part of Avengers 3 is set for release in May 2018 and Part 2 is set for release in May 2019. More details will follow. And I hear more rumors that the Mad Titan Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) is set to be the main villain for the two-part film.

Now in between both parts of Avengers Infinity War, we are set to be introduced to the first female-lead film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel in July 2018. No casting or director details have been announced or confirmed just yet. But we may want to be alert on this one. The Captain Marvel film is set for a July 6 2018 release date.

Now the final film just before Avengers Infinity War Part 2, we are set to wrap Phase 3 up with the film entitled Inhumans. It is said that Inhumans will be Marvel's answer to the mutants that Fox's X-Men are called. They are said to be a race of people that are said to be the primitive homo-sapiens (X-Men talk if you will). This one will be set for a November 2 2018 release date.

So to recap, I have the full line-up here:

  • Captain America: Civil War (May 2016)
  • Doctor Strange (November 2016)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (May 2017)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (July 2017)
  • Black Panther (November 2017)
  • Avengers Infinity War Part 1 (May 2018)
  • Captain Marvel (July 2018)
  • The Inhumans (November 2018)
  • Avengers: Infinity War Part 2 (May 2019)

So what do you think about Marvel Phase 3? Will it work? Which villain for which hero should be featured? Leave your thoughts down below in the comments.
