To say that a lot of information came out of the Marvel Studios press conference yesterday afternoon would be an understatement! The Kings of Comic Cinema quite literally threw down the gauntlet yesterday, announcing the 8 films that would make up their much anticipated Phase 3 movie line-up!
While it seemed like Avengers characters new and old are set to get their own Phase 3 spin-offs and sequels, one must wonder if we'll ever see the likes of Black Widow and Hulk in their own films. This is something that has been rumored for awhile now, however Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige came right out and said that the studio has no current plans to give either character their own solo movie.
This is sad, as rumors of a Planet Hulk movie have been swirling around for a little while now. In addition, Kevin Feige had previously alluded to the fact that Marvel Studios was tinkering with the idea of giving Black Widow her own solo film. Yet, it appears as though, at least for the time being, neither will be happening any time soon.
No doubt, Marvel is leery about trying a third solo Hulk film, given the previous two attempts over at Universal. Kevin Feige also admitted that Marvel Studios were really wondering if taking Black Widow out of the world of the Avengers movie was a good idea.
In any case, while these characters aren't slated to get their own films, they'll no doubt be appearing in future Marvel projects, similarly to what Marvel is doing by sticking Tony Stark in Captain America: Civil War.
Perhaps we should all just admit that some superheroes just won't be getting their own films, no matter how badly we want them.
