Guess who's joining the Freak Show? TVLine announced today that [How I Met Your Mother](series:200728)'s Neil Patrick Harris is going to be on AHS: Freak Show and he's bringing his husband David Burtka along for the wild ride, but who are they going to play? Now, that's the big question.
Earlier this year Neil Patrick Harris expressed his interest in appearing on the show to EW Radio, and stated he had gone so far as to write his friend Murphy a letter. He said:
I wrote a letter to Ryan asking if I can be in it, even though I wasn't even available to be in it. To do one that involves any kind of freak, circus nonsense is going to be so unsettling to watch. Can't wait!
And how did the benevolent television leader Murphy respond? Well, with a Tweet, of course!
@ActuallyNPH of course you can be on Freak Show! I have a role I think you'd love.

So, it's not like this is a complete shock, but given Neil Patrick Harris's busy schedule, there was a lot of speculation that he would be too busy to make it happen. But still SUPER EXCITING that it's officially been confirmed! I'm sitting here at my desk like...
We should also remember that NPH and Murphy are not new to working together. In the past on Murphy's other show, [Glee](movie:718630), which included this rendition of Aerosmith's "Dream On". It's safe to say that his role in AHS will likely differ from Glee's Bryan Ryan. So, what will his character look like?
From what we understand, it sounds like NPH will be in the final two episodes of the season as a "chameleon salesman," and Burtka will be in the last episode in "a sexy storyline with Jessica Lange’s batty chanteuse."
With Neil's love of magic, I'm wondering if they're going to add that somewhere in his storyline. Also, how cool would it be if the twins made a cameo to make this a full-on family affair?
With his announcement he will be hosting this year's Oscars and now a stint on [American Horror Story](series:206668): Freak Show, NPH sure has got a lot on his plate. Luckily, I think few others in Hollywood would be better fit for the task. You go, NPH!
