Some people will do more than others in the pursuit of fame, but new horror Starry Eyes goes a bit further than most. The movie tells the tale of a failing actress who's scouted to star in a horror movie, and in her desperation to hit the big time must decide just how much she's willing to do for the role.

Billed as a Cronenberg-esque body horror, the gore is certainly omnipresent from the get go. The trailer sees Sarah (Alex Essoe) tied up, tortured, and mauled as a creepy voice over talks about the nature of fame. A cutaway reveals that the plot has a satanic element too, with a healthy dose of cult mentality and people inexplicably standing around candles.

Directed by unknowns Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer, the project was partially funded by a Kickstarter campaign before debuting on the indie festival circuit this year. TIME called it one of the top 10 films at SXSW, which is high praise for a horror movie, and for first time directors as well.

Starry Eyes gets initial release November 14th. Check out the trailer below.
