If you thought candy would be the best treat this Friday, think again. JK Rowling has released a new Harry Potter tale in honor of this year’s Halloween.

On the Pottermore website, the best-selling author has provided her fans with a back story to one of Hogwarts most detestable professors, Dolores Umbridge. It turns out Miss Umbridge, with her posh appearance but cruel punishing methods, was actually inspired by a real person, a teacher of Rowling’s herself no less. In an essay about the character Rowling describes her teacher as someone she loathed and vice versa. “It is true to say I borrowed from her, then grossly exaggerated, a taste for the sickly sweet and girlish in dress.”

Professor Umbridge was a blood witch and Ministry of Magic bureaucrat. When in need of a new Dark Arts Professor, Umbridge becomes the new addition to Hogwarts. She was soon to be hated by students and teachers alike for her abusive punishing methods. One can hardly forget Harry’s detention days and how every time he would write down “I must not tell lies” the blood quill would carve the phrase on his arm and then disappear.

For all Potter fans, the story is now available on Pottermore or you can look it up on Today.com
