So you know those days when you're extremely tired, either a long day at work or just back from the gym, and you have absolutely NO PLANS! (Be honest with yourself here,.. it happening more and more often) So you turn on the TV, and there is absolutely nothing on TV, and you're too tired to even THINK about leaving the house to see a movie! All you want to do is be one with the couch and watch a movie thats thrilling. stimulating. but also relaxing. Sounds impossible to find such a movie yeah? (Don't even bother flipping through Netflix,.. you'll end up spending 90% of your time "choosing" and "sampling" what to watch rather than watching ) These kind of moments call for movies I like to call "Box" movies..(shush, the name will catch on)

Now what is a box movie? Well its a stimulating, thought provoking, highly sophisticated dialog and scripted movie, that.occurs.in.one.room.(like in a box)
That means no flashy CGI, no flashy car chases scenes, but it will still keep you on the edge of your seat. Here are the top 5 Box movies in my opinion.

(don't worry, there wont be any major Spoilers that will ruin your decision to possibly watch these later on) starting from Number 5

Number 5: Buried (2010) starring Ryan Renolds

Plot: Paul is a U.S. truck driver working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.

Many of you might have already seen this, but this movie is really captures the "box" movie genre we are about to dive into. i mean, com'on.. he is literally in a coffin! Its a great thrilling ride of a movie, with an IMDB rating of 7/10. A worthy mention.

Check out the international trailer below.

Number 4: 12 Angry Men (1957) starring (no one you know cuz we too young)

Plot: Twelve men must decide the fate of one, when one juror objects to the jury's final decision in a murder trial, trying to slowly convince the others that the case is not as obviously clear as it seemed in court.

Yes, youread it right, 1957!! This movie all takes place with a jury in the room, where we follow their decision to convict a man of murder. guilty or not guilty. This move is a classic, (yes its in black and white, and i know that's a turn off for alot of people, but so is Charlie Chaplin and Schindler's list!) with a well deserved 8.9 on IMDB.

Trailer below:

Number 3: Phone Booth (2002) starring Colin Farrell

Plot: A man (Stuart Shepard) walking down the street hears a random pay-phone in a booth ringing, and is filled with an irresistible urge to answer the call, not knowing who is calling or why he felt like answering. Stuart Shepard, answering the phone call, finds himself trapped in a nightmare. A phone booth, pinned down by an extortionist's sniper rifle, forced to either loose his life, or play the game.

If you havnt seen this, it will guaranteed make you paranoid from picking up hidden "caller ID" calls, or using phone booths.. (I dont think anyone uses them anymore? maybe superman for changing his clothes.. in England alone)
7.1 IMDB rating.

Trailer below:

Number 2: Carnage (2011) starring Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Nancy Cowan, Christoph Waltz, John C. Reilly

Plot: Two pairs of parents hold a cordial meeting after their sons are involved in a fight, though as their time together progresses, increasingly childish behavior throws the discussion from an educated parent gathering, into egotistical hair-ripping chaos.

This movie is a gem when it comes to the art of how problems in real life escalate!! Again, the entire movie takes place in one room (and a hallway) where we follow these two pairs of parents go from role models to complete children.
If you've seen Christoph Waltz in any of his movies, you would know you want to see this! 7.2 on IMDB (deserved more) A MUST SEE!

Trailer below ( But I advise against watching it, makes the movie more predictable)

And my favorite Box movie of all time is....? (drumrollllll)

Number 1: The Man from Earth (2007) starring David Lee Smith

This movie,.. is soo good,.. im hesitant to reveal even the plot! Its the kind of movie you can watch over, and over and over again! Shot entirely in one room, with 8 actors! anyways, Its an 8.0 Rating on IMDB. And before i bring on the plot and trailer, i repeat, if you haven't watched it, STOP HERE! Continuing will ruin the movie experience!

*******The Man from Earth SPOILERS AHEAD******

Plot: An impromptu goodbye party for Professor John Oldman becomes a mysterious interrogation after the retiring scholar reveals to his colleagues he never ages and has walked the earth for 14,000 years. Watching as he unravels secrets, myths and revels to be many historical people during his lifetime.

Ill just leave the trailer here.. nothing more to add.. i think im going to finish writing this up, put The Man from Earth on, and watch :)

Honorable mentions:

K-PAX (2001) starring Kevin Spacey (7.4 IMDB rating)
Prot is a patient at a mental hospital who claims to be from a far away Planet. His psychiatrist tries to help him, only to begin to doubt his own explanations.

Coherence (2013) starring Emily Baldoni (7.1 IMDB rating)
