Sorry, I just had to get that out of the way first!

So, I was watching TV the other day when I stumbled upon the Incredible Hulk movie. It was the final battle scene against the Abomination (which totally rules btw) and it got me thinking...'man, this Hulk looks a lot better than Ruffalo's version'. After that, I kept wondering, am I the only one who feels this way? That's the reason for this article. To find out what you guys think.

I'm gonna give you guys my opinion on all 3 CGI (sorry Ferrigno fans) Hulks and which one I like best, and then we're gonna have a poll to see what you guys think.

2003 HULK

Obviously, I'll start with the 2003 Ang Lee Hulk.

When the movie first came out, I have to be honest, I really enjoyed it. Sure, it wasn't the best movie, the effects weren't that good and the storyline was lacking, but it was the first time we ever had a 'real' Hulk on the big screen.

The overall design wasn't that bad either, considering it was made in 2003 with 2003 technology. The Hulk was big, he was a word, he looked ok. Not great, but ok. The things I don't like about this incarnation are the following:

  • he's too green! I don't know about you guys but in most shots he kinda looks out of place. The color palette could have been better.
  • the skin texture is severely lacking! No wrinkles, no veins, weak muscle definition...
  • his movement was a bit odd at times! Maybe this is just me, but his movement didn't seem natural in some scenes.

This is my favorite Hulk! In my opinion, the design team absolutely nailed it. They took everything that was wrong with the previous one and fixed it. Just look at the guy! He's ripped, he's huge, you can see every little detail of his anatomy, his head looks a million times better...yeah, he's badass!

Now, I know what you might be saying: they over did it in the muscle definition department. You might be right and you might be wrong. It all depends on your preconceived notion of how muscular people look.

When you put on muscle, you can either go for the looks, like in this pic:

Mr Olympia
Mr Olympia

Or you can go for 'functionality', like this:

Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar

The design team obviously went for the looks, which for me makes total sense since the Hulk is a superhero . And what do most superheroes have in common? A great and ripped physique.

This Hulk is by far the most realistic out of the pack. Taking advantage of the state of the art technology available, I can totally understand why people love this version of the Hulk best. In this incarnation, they gave him a look that's closer to his comic book look.

The reason why I prefer the 2008 version to this one is his face. I don't want to offend anyone and I apologize in advance if I do, but he just looks mentally retarded. Seriously, he looks like a nitwit. I know they modeled his face after Mark Ruffalo, but they messed up at some point 'cause Ruffalo doesn't look like an idiot.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. In conclusion, I really dig the new Hulk and I'm really excited to see him go up against the Hulkbuster armor in Age of Ultron, but I would have preferred if Marvel kept the Incredible Hulk design.

Which Hulk do you think looks the best?
