Rob Liefeld has sparked the internet world with his comments at this weekend's Comikazie Con! During an appearance on the Comikaze main stage, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld spoke about his involvements with making the [Deadpool](movie:38663) movie. Rob also shocked the crowd with a tease of Cable making it to the big screen!
It looks like Rob has been telling the truth this whole time, folks! I've seen plenty of tweets and interviews to know Rob Liefeld (Co-Creator of Deadpool, X-Force, and X-Men's Cable) has been saying for years that he's going to be part of the making of a Deadpool film. Well, his comments at the Comikazie panel seem to have finally put a lot of rumors to rest.
Please note: NONE of Rob's breaking news is actually confirmed by a movie studio.
First of all, like the video above shows, Rob Liefeld says that it was the passion of Ryan Reynolds that helped make this upcoming (confirmed) Deadpool film possible. Rob says that Ryan Reynolds WILL be playing Deadpool in the upcoming film and that his own creation, Cable will soon make an appearance on the big screen as well.
"Ryan is Deadpool. Look, Ryan Reynolds, he’s gone through that same career arc, the guy is ridiculously talented. He has a huge, huge passion for Deadpool. Deadpool’s not happening, because he was a giant star, they said, ‘Ryan, what do you want to do?’ And he said, ‘Deadpool.’ That’s why it happened. They would have no faith otherwise. That movie is because of his passion. He put together the team." - Rob Liefeld
How will Cable pop up? Rob says he does not know yet or, at least, won't tell but he hints that Cable is just too much of a badass character to sit idle and will be coming via the Deadpool or in his own solo venture!
Rob goes on to say that what we all saw in the "leaked" Deadpool trailer will not be the kind of stuff seen in the forthcoming coming. Rob also has high praise for the person who did the leak of the Deadpool trailer video saying, "Thank whoever leaked that video and is now going to jail! That guy is why this movie is being made!"
Rob Liefeld has also taken to Twitter to bring his case for why Deadpool was not announced with all the othe Marvel movies announced last week by Marvel Studios.
The video speaks for itself or... I should say that Rob speaks of himself in the video a lot. That's just Rob. The artist is well known for either being loved by fans or hated by the rest of the comic book community. I personally have no issues with the guy, who I have spoken with a few times before. He's a very passionate man and just loves to DRAW! Either love him or hate him, I say.
Who is Rob Liefeld:
Rob Liefeld is a self taught comic book artist and writer. He broke into the scene with much fanfare due to his high energy drawings and ability to make cool looking characters. In the mid 1990s Rob broke the mold when he did his run on the now very famous New Mutants series. Here is where Rob Liefeld helped co-create the looks for Deadpool and went on to help create Cable and others like Stryfe.
Rob later left Marvel with the famed 7 to be the original creators of Image Comics. A creator owned comic book publication company. The creator made Youngblood #1 and a bunch of other titles that fans now deem were part of the downfall of comics in the late 90s with subpar books that had weak stories and copycat artistry. Rob was later kicked out of Image for misconduct and disagreements with other founding members. Liefeld had since went back to Marvel with Jim Lee to work on [Heroes: Reborn](series:926825). Rob has done many things, from working for his own comic book company to bouncing around DC and Marvel for the last few years. His best stuff (lately) was produced from teaming up with Joe Kelly on Deadpool CORPS and Cable and Deadpool.
Who is Cable:
Without spoiling too much for those that have yet to read anything with or about Cable. Cable is a time traveling mutant from the future who made his intro in New Mutants #87 to help the New Mutants with an ominous threat that was heading their way. Since his debut his cool looks from Rob's artwork quickly made Cable a fan favorite. Cable also has some very strong connections to Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Jean Grey (Marvel Girl, Pheonix)
Who could play CABLE:
Well the big question is; Who could even play Cable? My ansrwer to that would be Stephen Lang! The military bad guy from "Avatar"! He would be PERFECT!!
