Idris Elba has revealed that both he and Tom Hiddleston will be making an appearance in the Avengers sequel.
During an interview with The Telegraph about his debut album, Thor actor Idris Elba opened up about his 'secret role' in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
"I’m in Avengers... I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth [Thor] and Tom Hiddleston [Loki]"
Journalist Craig McLean clarifies: '[Elba] means that his Thor character, deity-cum-sentry Heimdall, appears in Age of Ultron, the second instalment of the superhero ensemble franchise' .
This is great news for any fans waiting to find out what happened after the events of Thor: The Dark World. It is worth noting though that this news contradicts what Tom Hiddleson said during an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year claiming that he will not be appearing in the upcoming movie. So who should you believe?
Well there have been a lot of rumours recently suggesting that Loki's Chitauri Scepter might be one of the six Infinity Stones that Thanos is after which would tie-in nicely with Avengers: Infinity War (Parts I & II). If this is true then the demigod's presence is likely to be integral to the MCU Phase 3 story so it wouldn't be surprising if he makes an appearance after the credits in Age of Ultron to setup his return in Thor: Ragnarok.
A few days ago a scene from Age of Ultron aired after an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also hinted at this. Take a look below at the still from the 1:20 mark:
That definitely looks like Loki's scepter from the first Avengers movie. We last saw Hydra villain Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann) in possession of the staff during the post-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier with an imprisoned Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). All three characters will be appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
It's still unknown for sure whether the scepter or its owner will be appearing in the movie since there's been no official word from Marvel yet but it is looking highly likely. We can only hope that the both Heimdall and Loki will indeed be making a return soon.
Do you think Loki and Heimdall will be making an appearance in Age of Ultron?
Avengers: Age of Ulton will be out May 1, 2015.
