Elf has got to be on almost everyone's top favorites list for Christmas movies. Amiright? Even if you aren't as obsessed with it as I am, you have to admit that it's given us a wealth of awesome GIFs. Not to mention my go-to line for answering the phone.
Trust me, it never gets old. Even when your friends and family tell you it's getting old, they're lying. It's still hilarious.
So you can imagine my delight when Warner Bros. Animation and NBC announced that they would be airing a stop-motion special this Winter called Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas. All of the majesty and wonder of those classic Christmas animations that my grandparents made me watch as a kid, mixed with one of my favorite modern holiday films. Plus the added bonus of musical numbers.
The special will be narrated by Santa and will focus on Buddy's adventures between when he leaves the North Pole and makes it to New York. Naturally, Buddy will be spreading Christmas cheer wherever he goes.
Sadly, Will Ferrell won't be playing Buddy. But who could ever replace him? *drumroll*
Jim Parsons, best known for his role as Sheldon on [The Big Bang Theory](series:200751)! The rest of the cast will also sound very familiar. You might recognize the voices of Mark Hamill, Ed Asner, Fred Armisen, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kate Micucci, Rachael MacFarlane, Max Charles and Steve Higgins. No bazingas here, folks. This awesome cast is the real deal. Hooray!
Be prepared relax with a nice bottle of maple syrup, some spaghetti, and candy canes to enjoy this hourlong Christmas special.
Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas will air on Dec. 16 at 8 pm.
