Yesterday, the internet was sent into a frenzy when Robert Downey Jr's facebook team posted a snap from a photoset that's been circulated on Tumblr for some time now. In response, the internet flipped out and thought that Spider-Man was officially joining the Avengers. I was fairly suspicious of these photos, because I was almost completely sure that I'd not only seen, but reblogged this photoset before.

What's more, the photos featured Tobey Macguire's Peter Parker; a universe that has been cut from any ongoing cinematic Spider-Man franchise in favor of [The Amazing Spider-Man](movie:45497) and Andrew Garfield. So, while everyone lost it, a lot of us here at home base remained skeptical.

Cue this tweet by photographer Christopher Moloney, the guy behind the photos who wasn't credited on the post:

Just goes to show that triple-checking your sources is important; if (and hopefully when) Marvel and Sony work out a deal regarding everyone's favorite web-slinger, they'll announce it directly.

But that's none of my business.

Until then, check out Moloney's photos here for more film geeking. His photos are awesome, and I know for sure that my fellow movie-and-comic lovers will love 'em!
