After his four month absence, Damon (along with Bonnie) is set to return to Mystic falls, though once he returns he finds things not quite the same as he left them, especially with his much longed for Elena.
After Damon and Bonnie finally end their 90s exile and make their way home to their friends, Damon is surprised to find that thanks to Alaric, his love, Elena, has no knowledge of ever loving him. Damon's return will certainly put a fork in the road for Elena, will she choose the path to have her memories with Damon restores, or instead choose to move on with her new life?
Ian Somerhalder knows what Damon's plan is, as he told TVguide:
At the end of the day, it is for love and he's going to try everything he can to get her back and win her back, and I think along that journey, he's going to realize not only has he done bad things, [but] he's done some extraordinary things [and] he's a fiercely loyal boyfriend and brother.
Aw, that's the spirit! Go get the girl Damon, you're worth it!
Nina Dobrev added her own insight into this interested character predicament, saying:
The show was so Delena-heavy and their love was such an epic love and such a big story point for so many years that it's a strange dynamic now to have all that gone. Which is kind of what makes it interesting because it's an Elena we've never seen before.
Hmm, it's definitely not an Elena we've seen before, and I have to wonder if this hints that Elena will perhaps choose to move on after so many years of Delena. Noooo! Please don't let it happen.
