A new art show hosted by LA gallery iam8bit called Sequel questions the need for unnecessary sequels by commissioning over 30 artists to come up with the official sequel poster. Not exactly the best strategy if you want to stop bad sequels from happening, but a pretty nice one if you want to see more nicely done art posters.
Over 25 artist are being represented in the show including Orlando Arocena, Alex Griendling, Kaz Oomori, Ashley Wood, Robert Sammelin, Cory Schmitz and Andrew Bannecker.
The show runs from November 12-23 at the iam8bit gallery (http://iam8bit.com/gallery/). You can also buy prints buy going to the gallery site here.
Goncalo Viana's 1984 sequel 2084 is pretty sly in the way it digs at Facebook likes.
Alex Griendling Labyrinth 2 is so darn sexy, smooth and sleek that it makes me ache with the knowledge that this sequel will never be.
Ashely Wood's Barbarella 2 has me wondering if Ralph Bakshi of Fritz the Cat fame would come out of retirement to do an animated version.
The pleasing Satanic geometry of Orlano Arocena Hellboy 3 poster is enough to make me think that Guillermo del Toro would drop what ever he is doing and start selling his soul and everything else to get this done.
Andrew Bannecker's Sleepy Hollow 2 is so good that it makes you forget that the Fox network version of it.
Arno Kiss' Down really makes you want to see things "Up" side down.
