Look alive, Hunger Games fans! I was fooling around with the apps on my phone, and I discovered something very exciting and I want to share it with you guys.

How exciting? Like...new, never-before-seen footage of [The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1](movie:446261) kind of exciting. Right? I KNOW. The new footage was just added to the movie's futuristic app, Our Leader the Mockingjay (hence me stumbling across it as I was playing on my phone). As a fan of both the books and movies, and firmly on Team Katniss and pro-rebellion, I ran to my laptop (or...more like rolled my chair over) to share the clip with everyone.

Unfortunately, I couldn't pull the whole clip itself from the app (curse you, technology!), but I managed to snag a few GIFs for you to check out:

Katniss meeting some of her fellow rebellion soldiers for the first time. She...doesn't look confident.

AND our very first look at Natalie Dormer in the role of Cressida:

I am seriously digging the half-shaved head.

If you want to see the full clip, head straight to the Our Leader the Mockingjay website (it'll work on your phone, too) and it will automatically direct you to the iOS or Android download link, depending on what kind of phone you rock. Now, I'm not going to tell you exactly how to find the clip, because exploring the app and discovering things is the entire fun of it. All I'm saying is *cough* make sure you figure out how to get inside the hovercraft. *cough* Here's where I walk away whistling innocently, and definitely DON'T show you a picture like this:

Beyond that footage, if you haven't already checked out the app, you seriously need to. Really. It's maybe one of the coolest apps I've ever seen, and ties right in to the incredible work that Lionsgate has been building for years with the marketing around The Hunger Games. From the gorgeous Capital Couture to Beetee's Anonymous-like hack of President Snow's address, they've done some really cool things to make fans feel as if they're immersed in the world of Panem and part of the fight.

But Our Leader the Mockingjay takes it to the next level.

Honestly, it kind of surprises me I haven't heard more people talking about it. It's super-interactive, very slick and futuristic-looking, like the aforementioned section where you can interact with a 3D model of the hovercraft from the film, such as enabling its shield, thrusters, and cloaking capabilities while exploring a 360-degree virtual model of its interior.

Same goes for the District 13 schematic section, which enables you to explore an augmented reality map of the bunker where the rebellion lives, again in 3D. A TON of Easter eggs are hidden in this section, like exclusive stills, character bios and stats, and background about the story. So you'll want to take your time exploring all the rooms, because there's a lot to discover. Seriously, both of those features make it feel like you're playing a video game, but one that actually feels real.

But that's not even the part that has me hooked...

You can literally be part of an underground movement, guys.

For a gal who sides with the underdogs in movies in a "fight the system" kind of way every time, this is right up my alley. You just scan points in the world around you - literally, point your phone at almost any surface or flat object - to leave "graffiti marks" that include a coded message for any other members of the rebellion.

Your "Allies Map" shows you where other people using the app have left marks, and you can scan their virtual graffiti to receive their messages and respond. Basically, it allows you to build a giant underground network of pro-rebellion fans just like you who are all communicating through invisible, coded messages, just like you're part of the resistance slipping messages back and forth without Capitol spies finding out.

Awesome, right? Such a clever way of getting messages back and forth to fellow rebels. Once again, we're drawn directly into the fight, but this time, we're encouraged to be more directly part of it than ever.

The rebellion is growing. Will you be a part of it?
