So, Dracula: Untold kicked off Universal Studios' giant reinvention of the classic monsterverse, and we're promised that The Mummy will stagger, mumbling terrifyingly onto the silver screen once more on June 24th, 2016.

However, the studio also dropped the li'l nugget that another movie monster will lurch / creep / slither / stomp our way on the slightly random date of April 21st, 2017.

But which Universal monster will it be?

We could be seeing The Phantom of the Opera, the Invisible Man - even The Hunchback of Notre Dame, but the fan fave at the moment is The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Personally, I'd like to see Universal tackle something a bit more leftfield, like 1943 sci-horror oddity The Mad Ghoul. This would free up the interpretation from the public's previous knowledge of the characters and breathe new life into movies that many people have never seen. Besides, The Mad Ghoul sees a bonkers doctor using ancient Mayan nerve gas to bring a monkey back to life, and what's not to like about that?
