It is beyond apparent how Assassin's Creed has transformed the gaming industry forever. It's combat style and mode of navigation is an inspiration for countless other titles. Most recently we can see how AC impacted upon a game with Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. How the player fights, navigates the world and unlocks areas is all taken from the Assassin's Creed world.
Though that's not to say that Shadow of Mordor didn't improve upon a formula. I felt that the slick traversal of the environments and the fast paced action was almost superior in many ways to that of other AC titles, and it was at least a welcome change up. Now, I am a player who has become jaded by Assassin's Creed. Ubisoft is content to churn out game after game with little to no alterations or transformations. But then, something like Assassin's Creed Unity comes along, and I start paying attention once more.
Assassin's Creed Unity's Changes to AC
Obviously the biggest changes come in the form of Co-op and the progression to NextGen with PS4 and Xbox One. But what else does Ubisoft have in mind with Assassin's Creed Unity? What will this game that has been in production for 4 years offer gamers who adore this series? Or even those who are tired of its formula!

Firstly, the world of Paris looks unbelievable on NextGen. The lighting, the scale, the size of the crowds, the amount of side quests; all of these combine into a world that will transform how AC games continue to be made. It is the largest city in the history of the games and is filled with historically accurate renderings of famous locations. There are 7 districts, each with its own architecture, class and design, and of course its streets are populated with over 5,000 characters. Thus, Unity's Paris will surely have us wandering around its streets for hours on end.
Ubisoft has maintained that the combat system and parkour navigation system have received real innovations. Control feels more in the palm of the player as opposed to just chance. We won't be jumping off a building mid-climb anymore I hope! Also, the way that your character, Arno navigates walls and buildings appears different to the old classical style. You can check out all of these features in the clip below.
Speaking of Arno, all of his gear is completely customisable to suit your own desires. Change the colour of his cloak and daggers, and select the methods of taking down enemies that suit you the most! The hidden blade is also getting some exciting changes, with projectile blades and other such advancements in store!
Obviously, it's going to take quite a game from Ubisoft to get me back into the Assassin's Creed universe. But I really feel that Assassin's Creed Unity is the game that I've been waiting for. Sure the formula that they created was wonderful, but they need to adapt it as the times change. Thankfully, it seems that they've understood the need for AC to change quite a bit.
But don't just take my word for it, you've got to see this video below!
