With the release date for [The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies](movie:512312) drawing nearer and nearer, merchandise is beginning to be released; and thanks to said merchandise we've been able to get a glimpse of what Sauron, or 'the Necromancer,' will look like in the final Middle Earth installment.

The image comes from The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies companion book, which will soon be in stores, and shows Sauron in the form he took before the giant fiery eye from The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Check it out!

Speculation over at TheOneRing.net is that he looks to be holding the Palantír seeing stones in his hand, keeping his eye on everything.

The Necromancer will be voiced by the multi-talented Benedict Cumberbatch, who is also voicing Smaug the Dragon. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how his voice changes between the two characters.

The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies will be released on December 17th.
