Let it never be said that Matt Damon is not a man of his word.
After The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007, Damon said he would return to the series, but only if Paul Greengrass handled directorial duties. Apparently, the studio had a problem with that, and moved ahead with the franchise with Jeremy Renner in the lead.
However, the lackluster reaction to The Bourne Legacy has seemingly realigned the universe and reunited Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass. While on the red carpet for their new series, Project Greenlight, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were asked about their respective physiques. While answering the question, Affleck revealed Damon would soon be Bourne again. Affleck told E! News:
Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So…
Matt Damon fleshed out the details, explaining:
Yes, next year. It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.
This will be the third Bourne collaboration between Damon and Greengrass - the latter of which joined the franchise during The Bourne Supremacy.
Of course, we know nothing about the details of the film's plot, however considering it will be the first Damon-led Bourne in nine years, I imagine it'll feature a grizzled Jason Bourne coming out of retirement... and then running around a European capital evading, and injuring, nefarious bad guys, y'know, as he always does.
Which is the best Bourne movie?
