For those of you that don't know who I am, which is probably everyone, I am themightypoog. I've just recently decided to join the contributors of Moviepilot, specifically all things superheroes. This is just a little introductory post so readers can get to know me.

I've been considering joining the Moviepilot crew for quite awhile now. I haven't been a very active member of the community, but I have been silently patrolling the interwebs, sort of like Uatu the Watcher.

Yup, this guy
Yup, this guy

I figured that a good way for all of you to get to know me is to to do my top ten favorite comic book heroes. So here we go...

10) Aquaman (Arthur Curry)

The King of the Seven Seas
The King of the Seven Seas

Not everyone likes Aquaman. Not everyone appreciates Aquaman. Not everyone realizes how awesome Aquaman can be. But I see Aquaman for who he really is, an unappreciated superhero that deserves some love. He is probably the most underrated badass of the DC universe.

9) Daredevil (Matthew Murdoch)

The Man Without Fear
The Man Without Fear

Daredevil has always been an interesting character to me. Most superheroes get their powers from some sort of enhancement: radioactive spiders, the sun, super secret government projects, etc. Daredevil is the first hero I heard of that received their powers through a disability, in his case vision loss. His dark and gritty feel

8) The Flash (Barry Allen)

The Fastest Man Alive
The Fastest Man Alive

The Flash is the best superhero with super speed (step aside Quicksilver). When I first heard about the Flash, I thought he was lame because he could just run really fast. But the fact that he doesn't just run fast is awesome. The super speed he gained also sped up everything about him. He heals fast, thinks fast, even moves so fast he can quantum tunnel through objects.

7) Spider-Man (Peter Parker)

With great power comes great...oh y'know
With great power comes great...oh y'know

Spider-Man is one of the most well known and relatable characters in the Marvel universe. The character is relatable because he has real world problems in a fictional world. If only he could stand with the Avengers...

6) Ant-Man (Hank Pym)

Yellowjacket, Giant Man, call him what you want
Yellowjacket, Giant Man, call him what you want

You may be thinking "Ant-Man, really?" right now. Sometimes, I might agree with you. But Ant-Man is an awesome character. He not only helped form the Avengers, but also created one of their biggest adversaries, Ultron. I am mildly disappointed Ant-Man will not get the credit for creating the big bad of the next Avengers movie, but I still hold out hope that he will be somehow involved.

5) Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)

NOT the movie version
NOT the movie version

Green Lantern is one of the coolest DC characters by far, that is if you can look past his terrible portrayal in the 2011 Green Lantern movie. However, Green Lantern is a great character if you look past the terrible CGI. He's certainly "worthy" of a spot on this list.

4) Captain America (Steve Rogers)

Shown here not punching Hitler

Captain America is a great character because he is straight out of one of the greatest generations on Earth. Personally, I find the era of World War II facinatimg, and seeing a character come out of that generation is amazing. Plus, Marvel has certainly done the character justice in the movies.

3) Green Arrow (Oliver Queen)

The Emerald Archer
The Emerald Archer

This is the only character on the list that fought his way onto the list. Before Arrow, I barely knew about Arrow. If you asked me before I watched Arrow who Green Arrow was, I couldn't give a proper answer. However, Arrow made me love the character. I didn't think it was possible to have a successful show based on an archer, but Green Arrow proved me wrong. Green Arrow has earned a special spot in my heart, and he deserves it.

2) Deadpool (Wade Wilson)

The Merc with a Mouth
The Merc with a Mouth

He breaks the fourth wall, loves Death but can't die, killed the whole Marvel Universe. No character has the humor down quite like Deadpool. If you're skeptical about it, pick up some Deadpool comics and you'll realize why you should be psyched for his movie.

And he's made 372,844 pancakes. Beat that Supes

1) Batman (Bruce Wayne)

The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight

Let's be realistic now. When have you ever seen a top ten superhero list that doesn't have the Caped Crusader on it? Batman is arguably the most iconic and popular superhero today. With the best cast of rogues (Joker, Penguin, Riddler, Harley Quinn) and some of the best adaptations in movies, video games, and TV (the Dark Knight Trilogy, Gotham, Arkham series), who doesn't love Batman?

Hope you enjoyed the article. I look forward to making more and becoming a member of the Moviepilot family. Please let me know how my first article is and where I should improve. I've already got some ideas for other articles, so stay tuned
