The CW have released a new 90 second Flash trailer teasing the next few episodes, just as they did for Arrow a couple of days ago. Let's break down the most important parts below (we've seen a bit of it before).
Anyone else got chills? Okay, here's the important stuff.
General Wade Eiling - also known as simply The General in the comics - often appears as a Captain Atom villain. Brutal, likely corrupt, and ruthless, this General doesn't look to be a Metahuman - at least not from the outside - but he does seem to be very much a hard man. We'll first meet him in this week's episode, Plastique.
We first saw this classic Flash villain teased in an earlier trailer, but we get a bit more of him this time. Tony Wood was a victim of STAR Lab's negligence even in the comics, so him being effected by the particle accelerator - if that's the route they take- also lines up. The description teases him as being able to transform his body into living metal; similar to his superhuman stamina, durability and strength in the comics. He'll be portrayed by Greg Finley, and we're expected to meet him in The Flash is Born.
The Clock King
Again played by Robert Knepper as he was way back in Arrow's Time Of Death, the Clock King will reemerge later this season as well, this time with a bushier mustache but ultimately the same costume and the same (somewhat tragic) criminal underneath it.
A new look at the Accelerator explosion
With the trailer comes a new angle from across the bay to see the STAR Labs explosion. While I thought the effects would deteriorate as budget dropped and episodes went on, they seem to be getting better. The effects team is absolutely going out of their way to make this show look the best they can - the speed effects, Cold's guns, the powers - as everything continues to wildly impress me. Shout out to them.
Just who is Wells looking at, or talking to?
Harrison Wells is proving to be one of my favorite characters on the Flash, with Tom Cavanagh's performance, winning me over and the mystery and complexity of his character intriguing me since the end of the pilot. Here he appears to be in his secret room, and he looks to be talking to someone's face in the hologram.
According to Screenrant.com:
"Blackout reportedly seeks some kind of vengeance against Barry Allen’s new mentor Dr. Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh). He apparently causes some kind of “outage” of the Flash’s powers, which makes stopping him that much more challenging."
He'll appear in Episode 7 with the Clock King. He'll be played by Michael Reventar.
The actions at the end of the trailer with Barry and Caitlin oddly remind me of Flashpoint, wherein Barry zaps himself with lightning to get his powers back. Perhaps there'll be a nod to that.
Running up buildings and running across water
This was in that other Arrow trailer article I did, but it's worth noting here. Barry is already experimenting with his powers, running up buildings and now running across water, just like in the comics.
