WARNING: Potential Walking Dead mid-season finale spoilers ahead!

After watching this weeks episode of [The Walking Dead](series:201193) it suddenly hit me that there's only three more episodes left in the first half of Season 5, time flies when you're killing walkers! With these final episodes creeping up, speculation over what exactly will go down in the mid season finale is rife, including the likelihood of a major character getting the chop.

Those crazy fans over at Spoiling Dead have provided us with tons of tasty tidbits throughout Season 5 and they've done it once again, providing us with this mid-season finale information (note, this came directly after the "Slabtown" episode):

We received some information a while back stating the MSF would have a death and would be bloody. Last night we saw Noah escape the hospital as reported. Recently, we stated that Noah would be used as a "bargaining chip" when the group goes to the hospital for Carol and Beth. Noah "volunteers" to return to the hospital with Rick’s group.

No one finds Beth as a walker. There is a "standoff" of sorts. Beth has the choice to leave and has a moment of gumption (or weakness, depending on how you look at it) that leads to her demise. Beth ends up believing that the choice she makes is a necessity in the end. But Beth doesn't envision things ending the way they do. Beth's death will be a harrowing moment not only for Beth, but for Daryl, Carol and the others as well.

So if their sources are correct, we may only have a few episodes left of Beth Greene before she goes to greener pastures.

But while this news is devastating, it might not be quite as devastating as the mid-season finale will lead us to believe. Confused? Well check out this comment from Stephanie Conley underneath the initial post on the Spoiling Dead:

She is presumed dead in episode eight and revealed alive in episode 10 and doesn't return until episode 16. That's why Emily [Kinney] has been gone for months. That's why the clocks in "Slabtown" pointed to four, eight and 10

Alright, alright a bit of hope, but what was all that talk about the clocks in "Slabtown?" Check out the use of timepieces I found sprinkled throughout the episode:

The clock in panel 1 was the first clock we saw in the episode and clearly points to five and four, indicating Season 5, episode 4. Greg Nicotero has already explained that The Walking Dead crew like to sneak this little easter egg into episodes.

If you look at panels two and three, which are screen-caps of two completely different scenes, you'll see that the clocks point to eight, could this really mean that we don't properly learn Beth's fate until episode eight?

Panel four is where this theory really seems to check out. In this scene, Beth chats with Dr Edwards as he dresses her face wound after Officer Dawn hits her. In the background is a 'get well soon' drawing with a clock on it, the clocks hands point to 10:10.

So do you think this theory about Beth dying in the mid-season finale has some weight to it? It definitely seems like the show is gearing up for something substantial to happen with the younger Greene sister, and having Beth die - or at least appearing to die, seems like it would be the perfect dramatic ending to the first half of Season 5.

Add to this speculation this comment from Greg Nicotero to The Huffington Post, when he spoke about the mid-season finale way back in August:

I can tell you that in the mid-season finale that we just finished shooting there were upwards of 800 walkers for just that episode.

Regardless of what happens in the mid-season finale, it sounds like it's going to be awesome. I cannot wait.
