Rockstar went to incredible lengths with designing the world of GTA V. The map is laden with the smallest and most intricate details you could imagine. Naturally, we've all had to come together and collectively compile our knowledge concerning the easter eggs and other surprises that our beloved designers have created.
From the sight of Bigfoot to the arrival of aliens, GTA V has it all when it comes to the bizarre. But not only do they love throwing in references to myths and legends, they love to pat themselves on the back and acknowledge their past and that of other films and games. Take a look at some of these reflective easter eggs in GTA V!
Past Glory Easter Eggs in GTA V
Max Payne - A suburban clothing store has a goofy-looking hawaiian shirt. Couple that on Michael with a bald head, a big bushy beard, and a pair of Rimmers Steel aviators. The result makes Michael look almost exactly like Max Payne from Max Payne 3 - it's way too close to be a coincidence. Did anyone else just adore Max Payne 3? Seriously, what a game! I still have it at home and I ain't planning on getting rid of it any time soon.

John Marsten - The lead character in Red Dead Redemption, also makes a guest appearance as a selectable "Special Dad" chosen by pressing Y or Triangle from the Heritage Menu when playing GTA V online. You can actually be a descendant of the awesome cowboy! Rumours also speculate as to whether this will be happening in GTA 6 too, that the protagonist in GTA 6 may actually be a descendant also. Make of that what you will!
In another RDR nod, in Franklin's second home you'll find a book titled "Red Dead," with J. Marston listed as the author. Love it Rockstar, love it! Let's take a look at some other easter eggs now within the world of GTA V.
Playboy Mansion - In an out-of-the-way spot in the hills behind Los Santos you can find a mansion that's an obvious nod to Hugh Hefner's Playboy mansion. It comes complete with a grotto swimming area and (of course) several topless female party-goers.
Drive - One of the greatest films I've seen in the cinema in a long time gets a mention in GTA V too. The astounding Refn's Drive, gets a mention with a jacket that looks just like Ryan Gosling's from the film! I love film references in video games, but they also pay homage to other game titles too.
Borderlands - Oh Rockstar, you sly devils! Some construction sites in GTA 5 have machines that feature the exact same paint job as Borderlands' lovable robot Clap Trap. It's subtle, but unmistakable. Goes to show that Rockstar aren't just in love with themselves, but acknowledge the achievments of other developers too. I mean, who wouldn't love Borderlands!?
Halo - Last but not least, Rockstar have doned their cap at Bungie for their achievements with Master Chief! You can find Republican Space Ranger street performers that look more than a little bit like Halo's Master Chief near GTA 5's version of the famous Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Oh GTA V, you really have set a high standard. Let's hope that GTA 6 can follow suit!
