Nothing says Christmas quite like the mass enslavement of the Israelites. Jokes aside, director Ridley Scott is set to deliver an extremely enticing seasonal gift in the form of Exodus: Gods and Kings - and the brand new trailer looks sensational.
The film, which hits screens on December 12, is an interpretation of the exodus of the Hebrews from Egypt following their ongoing persecution, as told in the Old Testament. Scott has proved his prowess at handling historical epics, having previously directed 2000's classic Gladiator. If he can recapture half of that film's magic then we're in for a real treat.
Exodus stars Christian Bale as Moses - God's messenger and defiant leader of the fleeing Israelites. Joel Edgerton (Warrior, The Great Gatsby) stars opposite him as the antagonist Pharaoh Ramses, who attempts to impede the liberation of his slaves and seems like an all-round shady guy.
The film also features Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) as Joseph, and Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar) as Ramses' mother, Queen Tuya. With an all-star cast and a legendary director at the helm, you could say I'm more than excited for this biblical adventure. Here are some of the best parts from the trailer:
Over 4,000 extras were used in some of Exodus' scenes, and they really help to capture the monumental scope of the film!
Ramses and Moses face off against each other. This is going to be one unmissable showdown.
The plague of locusts descend on the Egyptians, causing mass hysteria.
The iconic parting of the seas is rendered in stunning C.G. as seen above.
December can't come soon enough! You can watch the full trailer here:
