After you all went crazy last week seeing the cast of Hey Arnold all grown up, prepare yourself for the latest cast to get the aging treatment: the much loved cartoon, Rugrats.
Over the Rugrats' 13-year run, we were treated to nine seasons, 172 episodes, three movies, and countless memories of the adventures of perpetually bald baby Tommy and his friends.
The show spawned a successful spin-off named All Grown Up! which ran for five seasons and showed the much loved babies and toddlers as tweens and teens. But what happened to the gang after All Grown Up!, and what would they look like now? Thanks to talented artist Isaiah Stephens and his blog Izzy Doodle Dump, we've got our chance to take a look, and he's even lined them up with how they looked in Rugrats and All Grown Up!
The whole gang
From left to right we have: Phil and Lil DeVille, Dil and Tommy Pickles, Chuckie and Kimi Finster, Angelica Pickles, and Susie Carmichael.
Well, it's pretty obvious that Tommy has taken after dad, Stu Pickles. Donning a Pickles Inc. shirt and, with a screwdriver in hand, Tommy is still rocking a similar style to his infant days, though thankfully now he seems to have learned to love pants.
Tommy's little brother Dil looks super cute! He's far from the babbling little baby way back in Rugrats and now he looks like quite the dapper young man! He also seems to have taken on his dads love for tinkering, wearing a Pickles Inc. hoodie.
Well, well, well! Who would have predicted nerdy Chuckie Finster could have gone full blown hipster later in life?! Of course he was looking a little more suave in All Grown Up! and he's really channeled that style now! I really like that he's still got the little planet on his tie, too.
Chuckies step sister is also looking tres chic, but we would expect nothing less from the character we were first introduced to in Paris! She seems to still have her cat shirt from her toddler days as well as those cute boots, though her shorts do seem to have shrunk...
Lil, the groups sole girl (not including pesky Angelica), was always a firm favorite of mine, and grown up Lil still looks like a girl you'd want to be friends with. She's finally outgrown her pink hairbow and replaced it with colored streaks, but I love how she still has the little yellow bird motif on her necklace.
Phil is obviously the hot, bad boy of the group. No offense to Tommy or Chuckie, they've grown into nice looking guys, but um, do they have a REPTAR tattoo? No, no they don't.
The talented and kind little singer is all grown up! Unlike most of her friends she seems to have developed a whole new sense of style. Gone is the purple from her dress, gone are the flat shoes and gone are the braids and curls. I do really like that feather earring though.
Oh, Angelica. When I was naughty as a kid I would get called Angelica Pickles, as a way of being told I was acting like a spoiled brat, but let's be honest, Angelica was kind of a bad ass, and we all know she got shit done! Grown up Angelica looks pretty different from her power-suit wearing mom, Charlotte, and in her 'Rich B!tch' shirt I get the feeling that her attitude is probably still much the same as it was in Rugrats.
So there you have it, all the kids from Rugrats grown up! A huge thanks to Isaiah Stephens for his amazing artwork, I can't wait to see what the Rugrats will look like in another 10 years as they head into their 30s...Maybe they'll have their own little tribe of rugrats to contend with!
Were you a big Rugrats fan?
