Marvel Studios has partnered up with Samsung to bring us a brand new extended trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron, which features quite a bit of new footage from the highly anticipated sequel.
The extended trailer is 17 seconds longer than the original, though it's structurally nearly identical and added all of two lines of voice-over dialogue from James Spader: "I know you mean well. ... There's only one path to peace: Your extinction."Most of the footage here was in the main trailer that we've all watched a hundred times by now, but there are some new bits and pieces that are worth pondering as well.
We see Black Widow checking out a photo on one Galaxy tablet or another, and later, we see people running for cover outside of a Samsung store amid a huge fight. Oddly, the Samsung store actually looks like it might be empty.
Samsung store, presumably somewhere in New York. We may see some people ducking for cover, though notice we see no destruction or menace of any kind in this shot. Just — hey, a Samsung store! C'mon in, check out our new line of products!
First Look Of Maria Hill And Claudia Kim:
First glimpse of actress Kim Soo-huyn (a.k.a. Claudia Kim), who many believe is Stark Industries employee Suzi Endo.
A shot of Hawkeye in a clock tower, and Iron Man flying over the castle:
Following today’s extended trailer, an Avengers: Age of Ultron featurette has been released, and it goes behind the scenes of the highly-anticipated blockbuster. It’s very cool to see how the production puts together their big set pieces, and it was also neat to see some of the practical effects like real pyrotechnics going off in the background mixed with live-action stunt doubles being yanked around. The featurette also reveals that they’re shooting in more distant locations than ever before (Italy, South Africa, and Seoul), the first sequence they shot was Hulk versus Iron Man’s Hulkbuster Armor, and to quote Joss Whedon, “Mass destruction: Check. Superheroes check: Check. Beautiful locations: Check.”
